Machine God
Yes Mead is made with Honey as one of its ingredients. I was going to post earlier with the supposition that Bees couldn't survive in an Arctic environment which Fenris is reputed to be, but apparently there is a bee species called the Tundra Bee that manages quite well in Alaska. CainTheHunter
Am i a beer noob? What is a microbreweri? A brewery which produces only a small amount of beer - for local consumption or connoisers only. Kind of small, family operated business. Muller
Basically any beer that ever will be a great beer, worth it's weight, will be brewed by a microbrewery. Often microbreweries arise from one's private home brewing operation, the reason as to why they are the ones whom produce great beer is because they don't do it for money, they do it because they love the beer and the whole culture around it. Beer such as Carlsberg, Heiniken, Miller, etc. have one sole purpose; revenue. And with that goal the taste is sacrificed for a cheap process and loads of PR expenses, all this leads to piss-brews sadly. The intense beer geek culture is extremely elitist; very similar to that of wine snobs, this often leads to extremely limited supplies of brews (thus the extreme prices for sought after beer; an example is a recent purchase by me and two friends. We bought a bottle of beer for 120 euros, yes 33cl) ;) Anyways, let's not derail the thread now. If I stumble across any more obviously norse-sounding brews that are worth mentioning I'll list them here. Token
Hm, alot of the beers seem to have black or dark background, i started with the bjorne bryg beer, with black background, dont want all of them black. The godless bear looks good, with white and blue background, but not sure if the name would be loyal or heretic in the 40k universe. It depends on if you call the chaos powers gods or call the Emperor god.. Opinions? And- freehand is hard, but pretty fun. Edit: Trying to paint midvinternattens mörker, which is white. How do you paint a good white? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223205-norse-sounding-beer/page/2/#findComment-2671527 Share on other sites
Muller
The emperor is the emperor, he is higher than any foul god, we know of 4 gods and they are heresy incarnate :D EDIT: A good white is easily done on a codex grey basecoat with white over, THIN layers, several, until you reach good coverage that stays smooth due to the watered down paint and several layers instead of one thick ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223205-norse-sounding-beer/page/2/#findComment-2671882 Share on other sites

Niiai
How about Aass (prunounced ås, å from the o in "how") from Drammen (old city name meaning where the wave meets the shore.) Or Mjød, more of a shurename of beer brewed from honey instead of...err...whatever beer is made of. The Ø sounds -kind of- like the u in "crud". Muller
I drank the obvious answer for this thread last night; Herslev Bryghus Mjølner Barley Wine 2007 B-E-A-UTIFUL Brew, I can get a pic up for the label later today (Ratebeer lacks a picture of it and on beer advocate no one's reviewed it yet. Emperors Immortals
I love when Scandinavians are talking about their beer, swedes especially, cause the only beer they get in Sweden is Danish Tuborg ;). Then all of them cross the Baltics and get totally drunk after drinking local beer. Watch your tounge you insolent one ( ;) ). Some of the world's best microbreweries are in Sweden, just because the general mass buys utter crap made in denmark, germany or holland does not change the fact that we have, for example, the world's best rated porter (Stormaktsporter from Närke Kulturbryggeri http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/narke-kaggen-...sporter/58057/). In general baltic nations beer is incredibly tasteless, good beer hails from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Belgium, USA, Czech Republic, Scotland and England (note that I'm ONLY talking about beer brewed by microbreweries). Aaaaanywhoooo, I stand by my list which is a few selected brews that are most excellent. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....and Australia!!!!!. Sweden and the northern european countries do have some great beers, but ive found (living in the R's end of the world) that theres some great cleaner beers from asia - esp. Japan and Vietnam. Sigmund Hammerhand
Australia is right at the bottom of the list of good beers. Any country that permits the sale of VB and west end has no clue whatsoever about beer. The mexicans do have Corona which is nice... but probably about as un-norse-like as they come... fivepointedstar
Actually of all places to find great beer.. Belgium! especially any Trappist brews. Those monks sure knew how to brew there own, and the vikings sure did know when to pillage there store house come seasons end. lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223205-norse-sounding-beer/page/2/#findComment-2672921 Share on other sites

Oh yes, very un-norse like. And the sale of VomitBeer comes under the corporate umbrella - definatly NOT a micro brewery. There are many terrific, award wining beers from Australia, Fosters, XXXX, Tooheys and VB are not amongst them. Ps; why do Australians call there beer XXXX? Because they cant spell Beer.
