Furioso Dreadnought with FW Claws

I commissioned just some time ago a couple of my minis to a guy with tons more talent than me in painting :lol:. Yesterday, I received the first samples of his work and I got so excited that I wanted to share with you.

This is for me an incarnation of the true feeling of 40k. Baroque and elaborate, but at the same time imposing and brutal. This paintjob gives the to the word DREADNOUGHT it's true meaning.

Enjoy and also check the painter's blog. There are some great minis to "fire" you up!

I want to thank you all for your kind remarks, and Beast_of_Amareo for sharing this! I must say that I love painting vehicles and this fella was not an exception. I enjoyed every second I spent on it!

The reds were done with the following recipe;

First of all I would definitely recommend Army Painter's red undercoat, that was the primer red I used. Then I used lots of brown and sepia washes to create the desirable shading. Mostly Valleho Sepia Wash and some of my own brown washes (I create my own washes using various inks). Then I started highlighting the model with Valleho red and GW's blood red mixed with orange up to an almost complete yellow at points. I hope that this was helpful, I really suck on making tutorials :P

I have to admit that I knew beforehand that Cadaver is going to receive such a great feedback. I just posted his work, so that I may also have a popular thread :P

The next model in line, is the one below. It is modelled by me (it is a BA Reclusiarch), but I gave it for painting to Cadaver, because only he can do it justice. I am not sure at which stage the model is, but I think I need to get out my agoniser whip to make him work faster :P In fact, this is one of the effects his paintjobs have on me, I need to see more and more daily :) Ok, Cadaver, if you are reading this post, you are wasting time. Go back to work *whip*

This is the model (just bare plastic)

3 post on this tread now :)

how much time did you spend on that?

lovley :rolleyes:

I really can't remember mate, since it's been awhile that this model is done. To be honest it took me more time to decide how to put the bits together rather than the actual modeling itself.

For those that have not seen this yet, the Dreadnought appears in GW's facebook page. Have a look and leave a comment :) :

I noticed, lucky!

Well, I guess luck has nothing to do with it. It's pretty deserved.
