puck
The thought occurred to me last night: in all the fluff I've ever read on the Inquisition I've never read about an Inquisitor that was not a psyker. Is there fluff I don't know about the states inquisitors have to be pyskers or is it just cooler to write about inquisitors with psychic powers? Inquisitors I've read about: Eisenhorn (Eisenhorn books) Ravenor (Ravenor books Roth (Bastion Wars books) Finurbi (Scourge the Heretic) Am I missing someone? Clewz
Inquistor Nyxos of the Ordo Malleus (from the grey knights series) doesnt appear to have any Renegade Inquistor Gholic Ren-Sar Valinov was confirmed as not having any as well Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223309-non-psyker-inquisitors/#findComment-2670200 Share on other sites
AlexHolker
Amberley Vail from the Ciaphas Cain books is another non-psyker. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223309-non-psyker-inquisitors/#findComment-2670206 Share on other sites
Piousservant
Inquisitors don't have to be psykers. There are plenty others in Eisenhorn who aren't. Also Tyrus is a canon (as such) Inquisitor who is not a psyker (from the Inq rulebook). Edit: Also, thinking about it, I'm pretty sure the limited release Inquisitor (the Witchhunter one with a Plasma pistol, can't remember his name) wasn't a psyker. Chengar Qordath
That really didn't need to be spoiler-texted; Vail identifies herself as an Inquisitor in the prologue for the first book in the series. I think the main reason psyker-Inquisitors tend to be more popular is that, all else being equal, psyker-Inquisitors have a better chance of handling themselves against the really big nasty things the Inquisition sometimes goes up against. Besides, the psychic powers make the character more impressive than they would otherwise be, since every Inquisitor is already assumed to be combat-capable. RamrodMC
Monodominant inquisitors are likely to be non-psykers (but there are always exceptions). AlexHolker
Chengar: Unless there are two different versions, you are incorrect. The Inquisitor's real name was kept a secret until Chapter 8. bertboxer
gholic and nyxos have both been mentioned already as non-psykers but i dont feel that roth really merits being considered a psychic inquisitor yes, he has some latent ability, but the way he's described in the books make him look pretty terrible at it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223309-non-psyker-inquisitors/#findComment-2670351 Share on other sites
Irbis
Yup, a big chunk of the Inquisition is non-psychic. In fact, in new GK Codex, virtually all inquisitors (save for one SC) start non-psychic and you have to buy them upgrade to Psyker status. Chengar Qordath
Chengar:Unless there are two different versions, you are incorrect. The Inquisitor's real name was kept a secret until Chapter 8. I've got the omnibus edition, but I'm pretty sure both versions have the introduction. Otherwise, the footnotes in the first book wouldn't make any sense. Take a note of the end of said introduction. As long as we're bringing in gameplay mechanics, it also bears mentioning that the Dark Heresy games grant plenty of options for non-Psyker Inquisitors. In the end, the only real requirement for becoming an Inquisitor is being able to convince several other Inquisitors that you would make a good Inquisitor. Stormshrug
Of course! How else would we Templars be able to work with them? Templars must make some exceptions, unless they've figured out how to fly ships without Navigators and deliver all of their memos by snail-mail. And Inquisitors basically run on the word "Exception." -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223309-non-psyker-inquisitors/#findComment-2670955 Share on other sites

dwtaylor
Inquisitor Lord Fyodor Karamazov from the Witch Hunters codex is also not a psyker. Who needs psychic powers when you have a sweet chair?
