Way1and
Hail, brothers! Has anyone, just for grins and giggles, packed a LR Crusader full of Blood Claws, chucked a Wolf Priest in there ("Aw! Why do I always have to babysit the kids?") and slammed it straight into enemy lines? What were your results? Was it worth it points-wise? Would it be worth it to build this unit from scratch, money-wise? If you were to Never Do This AgainTM, what unit would you replace it with to do the same job and why? Enquirer Minds Want to Know! Hfran Morkai
This was a favoured tactic with the old Codex, as you could have a Special Close Combat Weapon per five Blood Claws, rounded up. I'd always run one with 14 Claws, One Wolf Guard with Power Fist and a Rune Priest (Because Stormcaller was evil and the Wolf Priest didn't do much). These days it's not as devastating but its still a lot of fun. Mac the knife
not sure how effective it is atm but i'm running a squad of Skyclaw jump wolves with Wolf Priest that has proven to be devastating under the right circumstances. So i could see that being an effective build if somewhat of a bullet sponge. LR from my past playing experience are the target when their seen on the board. Gerwulf
I used a unit like that a couple times just when the new codex came out over a year ago. What usually happened is that the LR got shot to pieces, followed by the BC that where standing around stupidly. Funny thing is, I recently have been thinking of taking them out again just for fun. I haven't played my LR in ages and I'm thinking of using 2, one with BC and a WP, the other with Ragnar and some WG. Exensive, yes, but I'm just using them for the fun factor. Quillen
Yup. I use to use this alot. It worked alot better back in the day. Blood Claws are the suck now thou. So I would use Grey Hunters with a banner and Wolf Gaurd attached. Or as said above, Ragnar with 10 Wolf Gaurd 6 of them tricked out. The Ragnar build was awesome for about 6 months. Then I started getting a little bored with it. It's amazing thou. Still I would win the Game but it never faild that Ragnar would up and die on me. lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223320-crusader-claws/#findComment-2670700 Share on other sites
Baba Lem
Honestly, what do Blood Claws do anymore ? They're one attack more on the charge. They were neat when you could get like 8 in a Rhino, 2 fists, with a meltagun for < 200 points. Now, that they are the same amount of points as Grey Hunters, and cannot take a wolfbanner... I rather trust the Hunters, which have proven themselves. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223320-crusader-claws/#findComment-2670715 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
Honestly, what do Blood Claws do anymore ? They provide a huge wedge of Power Armoured warriors with a bucket load of attacks. This is rather fun I must say. I also believe Blood Claws are still around to provide us old Wolf fans with one of our fluffy units. Baba Lem
For the same price as Grey Hunters. The sturdy, always trusted backbone of any army. :D WS 3 hurts them so bad, too. techmarine Azuris
My blood claws have always done really well, as they are often over looked...i tried the crusader claws once and was extremely impressed (15 claws 1 fist, 2 flamer + WP) and they took out 2 squads of 3 boys and a warboss, compared to my two lots of Gray hunters who managed to just about take out 30 boys and a deffdread between them, i wiped him off the table turn 5 too thanks to my blood claws rlly, altho my land speeder did alot of damage taking out looters and my dread delt with his boomwagons What im trying to say is dont over look them as they are fun and deadly to use, altho the unit did cost 650 points, it defo made it back its points altho the land raider tbh didnt do that much, but the assault vehicle definetly worked, so id say try and well see how it works for you PS, my dice rolls where fairly average, none overly poor or majorly bad edit: typos Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223320-crusader-claws/#findComment-2671431 Share on other sites
