my doom eagles story...

chaplain belisarius

Recommended Posts

Chaplain belisarius walked down the stone steps leading into the reclusiam aboard the battlebarge Arrogant disdain. Candles cast erratic shadows upon the flagstones, reflecting off of his midnight black power armour and glinting off of his crozius arcanum. Here was the most sacred place in the whole chapter, the final resting place of all Doom Eagles when their dutiful service to the emperor is done. Belisarius walked down the dimly lit corridor, past the sarcophagi of fallen doom eagles, his footsteps echoing in the darkness.

Out of the gloom came light, bright, searing light. The Chaplains autosenses compensated almost automatically for the brightness. He held up his crozius arcanum and activated it....he knew what was coming next. "Halt! who goes there?" said a booming, metallic sounding voice, followed by the sound of booming footsteps. "It is I, Chaplain belisarius, hold your fire venerable brother Centurius" belisarius spake into the light.

A heartbeat later, the searchlight was switched off, bathing the corridor in darkness once again. "Well met, brother chaplain" rumbled venerable brother Centurius as he stood to one side, enabling Chaplain Belisarius to pass. Several of the chapters most venerable dreadnoughts were tasked with guarding this most sacred of places-the dead being watched over by the oldest Doom Eagles in the chapter.
