Great Company markings Question

Wanted the input from the Rout.

 

Just confused on which Company Symbol the Men of Logan's great company would use. In the third edition codex I thought it was explained that although Logan takes the marking of the Wolf That Stalks Between Stars (as do the Rune Priests, Wolf Priests, etc.), the members of his company (Wolf Guard, Hunters, Blood Claws) retain the Night Runner symbol.

 

Now in this 5th edition codex, it states with the markings of the WTSBS are adopted by a Wolf Lord's Great Company when he becomes the Great Wolf (Removing the Night Runner symbol entirely). What's up with that. Am I wrong in how I interpreted the clash of fluff in our two latest codices?

I always thought they took the prancing wolf. As it was the Great Wolf's symbol. I could be wrong thou.

Great wolf symbol (Wolf that walks the stars)unless you want to go back in time with your army before he became Great Wolf.

They all go with the Wolf that Stalks the Stars, but often keep elements of the old symbol (Night Runner), so you might see that on knee pads, on shields, integrated onto banners and standards, etc. I'll see if I can find the old fluff entry that described this.
