Hyaenidae
Looking cool, man! Love yellow armies, and it's great to see people give the unluckiest chapter around some love. I do have one question though...what in the wide world of sports is that throne made of?!? That looks very cool. Keep it up, man! Mr Yellow
@1000heathens- Thanks, the chair was made out of resin. It just so happened that it ended up being clear. Some more WIP. My next tactical squad. Backpacks and shoulder pads need to get involved. I bought a bunch of the company champion should pads so waiting on those before glueing them in place. Anyways, on to the photos: As always C'n'C is mandatory. Cheers chaps. SevenExxes
Bayonets are cool. I have bayonets on my DC bolters. All three of them. They look like Sternguard bolters. Are they from the finecast set? Can't wait to see them painted up. Your work is really good. Mr Yellow
@ SevenExxes- Thank you, the stormbolters are in fact forgeworld's own brand of resin bolter. They are called Umbra ferrox if memory serves correctly. They go for about a tenner on their site for ten of them, you also get some of those very cool looking chain-bayonets. And onto more built stuff. The next next tactical squad. Like the first it needs to have shoulder pads and backpacks stuck on, they are mainly absent as I have a chronic shortage of both at the moment. see if you can spot the guy who still needs the attention of a techmarine. (So I've also run out of heavy weapons too) I promise I haven't just re-posted the last couple of photos. As always, would love to hear comments and criticisms. DarkMark
@post 78. I'm not sure I like the one on the far right with the PF, something seems a little off to me. However, I do like the gold termies, and nice to see some good process. Mr Yellow
@DarkMark - I know what you mean about the power fist, I wasn't happy with it but at the time I thought a fist was a good idea for gameplay. I then realised that my army was meant to be soft and fluffy so I changed it for a two handed sword. It looks a lot better now. This week I have not done much. I have put a lick of paint on my sanguinary guard termies that look like this: I have also started a blog that will mirror what I post here from now on, but I will keep posting here but add my blog to your google accounts if you like. Comments and criticism welcome as always. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223428-lamenters/page/4/#findComment-2815016 Share on other sites
Mr Yellow
A bit more paint, not sure where to go with the scheme next, it's not coming out how I thought in my head, any suggestions? AustonT
What aren't you liking about it? To me the gold is a little obnoxious next to the checkers and yellow. You could try to deaden it out by mixing burnished gold 1:1 with bubonic brown, they are basically the same color so it just spreads out the flakes. Or wash it with sepia. If something else is buggin you there's other things to suggest. Mr Yellow
It's not the colours themselves but the arrangement of them. I had envisaged doing most of the plate armour sections in chequers but it makes the whole thing look too busy. The gold still needs some shading and highlighting anyway but I'm happy with that. I was thinking I should paint the right leg yellow instead of chequer. Then paint the kneepad with a red stripe. Might have to just paint it and see how it looks. AustonT
It does look super busy maybe do the powerfirst in yellow or something, and do a heraldry design on the shield or just the Lamenters chapter emblem? Obscura
Really liking how this is turning out, especially dig the yellow. The terminators seem a bit busy, color wise. Though once you add more details, it'll come together nicely. Blood Angel Scout
Excellent work Lamenter, love these conversions and looking forward to seeing your dread once it's complete. As for your Sang Guard Terminators paint scheme, can see what you mean about being too busy though I think this may appear that way due to the all-gold torso so would suggest maybe changing the colour of the face-plate to enhance the effect of the chequers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223428-lamenters/page/4/#findComment-2816222 Share on other sites

Guess I will have to disguise the skipping with some base building later on. At least you can't see his g-string. Thanks for suggestions on the buddahs. I think I will persevere with this guy till he is finished (with a few changes) and see how the overall look comes out. If it looks naff then he will end up in the bin and I shall never mention him again. Mr Yellow
Think I have got past my inner pain over too much gold and pushed on with the Buddahs. They now look like this; Also bought a bunch of ebay bargains: Got these guys for a tenner, and they were already painted yellow.......brilliant. A bit of detail work and they should come out quite nicely. I also got a forgeworld dread and some vanguard vets but I will show them later on when I have added conversion and paint to them all. AustonT
I'm hoping you mean 10 pounds because if you mean 10 dollars US or Canadian I will be even more jealous! Good buy. And the Golden Lemonheads look better as they come closer to completion. Losfer Werds
Good to see some dynamic poses rather than just the usual static port-arms or "at the ready" position, besides the "skipping" marine in the center. The knife hand on the second from the left seems like it's at an awkward angle. You might try cutting off the hand and turning it in so it looks more like a fencer's grip. As always astounded by your level of bravery to do Lamenters, yellow is still an impossible color for me. Mr Yellow
@Auston - It was pounds, exchange rate is not a rosy as it used to be though. @Losfer Werds - Not sure if bravery is the right word, more like a series of moments of insanity. By then it was too late to go back. A bit of BTIP (blue tacking in progress) of my regular sang guards. These were my void assault squads but ebay has been a little dry on cheap raptors for me to want to do a whole squad of ten. Seeing as how I have enough assault troopers already and needed the sangs I think it's a decent trade off. Also, BTIP of my blood champion for my honour guard. Not sure yet as he is very ornate, even more so than my captain. If I stick with this guy I can see a new captain model coming along to go with the rest of the honour guard who I think should all be in Mk3 armour. Mr Yellow
@Biohazard - Thanks, the metal plate came from the '4D model shop' they are online and in london. The stuff was quite cheap but their blanket shiping costs can only be described as extorniate so if you can go there I would recommend it. I'm sure I've seen it on ebay too though. Mr Yellow
More Sanguinarians this week, these guys are going to be my Apoc Sanguinary Host. Dante fill in and HG are still to be organised. I'm umming and urring over whether to give them Mk3 or Mk8 armour. Firstly, these guys have appeared before, have managed to replace the PFist with a sword that I am happy with. My void assault troopers got the chop (because I have too many assault marines already and my vision for the force is constantly in evolution and I changed my mind) and have been requisitioned. Last guy is in the post, but I do need to find an axe for him. These guys were inspired by the image of Sanguinius on the banner you get in the box. A bit of green stuff will go on these fellows. At the moment they just have blue tac holding them together. Lastly, but not least, are the vanguard vets I picked up the other week (another ebay bargain). Like the idea that they pwned a dread hence the weapon arms. Still need to get their weapons sorted. I think I will have halberds which means GK bits. Think I'll just buy the whole box and keep the other bits for spares and inevitable Librarian kit bash. C&C welcome as always. The paint quality is fantastic and your technique is wonderful, but I'm not 100% on the colour scheme. Can we get a picture of your army-in-progress, rather than single squads? If it's a hassle, don't bother - this is your blog, after all! But it's easier to judge the feel of an army based on the whole army, if you follow. :D Genuinely impressed with your work so far, though. Keep it up!
