The hunting party is ready

Edit: just added more pics of the Thunderwolf Lord

After about 2 years of on-and-off painting, the table top quality army is finally finished. It will be improved upon over time (such as replacing the current TWC stand-ins with plastic bloodcrusher conversions just like my Thunderwolf Lord), but I think the way the army turned out is cool. Every arm is magnetized (except for the Ultramarine on the exchange program) so I can literally turn them all into GH's, BC's, or WG. All of the weapons and turrets are magnetized as well, so I can slap on a HK missile or remove a storm bolter that's destroyed, etc.

Any ideas of what I can improve or add next?

Also, my paint scheme is somewhat unique so I thought I’d explain it up front:

Grey: Krylon Grey Primer, found at walmart or home depot. I spray that on as a primer, then wash the whole model with Badab Black. After it is completely dry, I overbrush/drybrush the armor with Adeptus Battlegrey (which is nearly a perfect match to the Krylon), leaving the armor dark in the recesses. I highlight it with a drybrush/edge of Skull White. After I paint the trim in gold, I use Badab Black again to line-in the gold.

Red: Over the Krylon, I paint Mechrite Red. Then wash the red area with Badab Black. You have to be careful to sort of draw the wash evenly over the area so it doesn't dry all blotchy.

Varnish: After the model is completely done, I varnish it with Krylon Clear Flat. It actually helps blend the mechrite red on pauldrons to the Badab Black. After two light coats you never have to worry about paint rubbing off.

Well done. But what is that smurf doing there? Is it a wolf in sheeps clothing?

Could you perhaps take a picture of the thundwolf rider from the side?

Very clean painting, if that is the correct word.. Like em.

Edit: Just saw your Runepriest, very cool forceweapon and servoskull.

Very crisp edges and highlighting you've got there, Wolf Brother. Bravo! Maybe too crisp for a Son of Russ.. Hm.. Only thing I don't like is how you put the Fenrisian Wolf on a cavalry base and then on the bigger base. It's distracting and doesn't really look... right. You know what I mean?

Nonetheless, this is some pretty good stuff. I am almost done with my 2,000 pts too!

I love your color scheme, and thanks for the breakdown of paints. I want that same kind of grey color and red. Plus I definitely love the Thunderwolf using a Juggernaut...I'm an idiot I love those models and never even thought to try that! It makes much more sense to me too, that I can see happening. Giant armored warriors on giant wolves...not so much.

Great work!

Excellent painting, very neat.

Now for the suggestion. It always seems to take longer than the praise, which is not my intent ^_^

I think you have too much grey on the vehicles. If you picked out the details in black [for the gun cases] and metal [for the bits that are not in black] then your vehicle has more definition. I understand that some want to stay away from yellow panels, etc. But I do feel the guns need to be made separate or more distinct from the rest of it.

Kind of like how you wouldn't leave the shoulder pads as grey.

Does that make sense?

But seriously, your painting is tip top.

That reminds me of the Eavy metal conversion [i think]

There was a genestealer in a suit of Terminator armour. The title was "Sheep in wolves clothing" :P
