Adarul Greystalker
I was looking through the Apocalypse book today and noticed something very interesting. In the Force of Chaos section, there is an order of battle listed for the Scourging of Makenna VII. One of the warlords present is Onerus Prayd, a former Red Scorpion, now a Red Corsair. His warband includes some Red Corsairs, but also other renegade squads and some daemons. Among them, a Wolf Brothers squad is listed. As Onerus Prayd is mentioned as serving the dark gods, this suggests strongly that the Wolf Brothers fell to Chaos and are now renegades. I know that this has always been considered a possibility, but this is the first time I've seen an official source suggest one possible outcome over another regarding this matter. If this is so, would it make the Wolf Brothers the only Second Founding chapter to have fallen to Chaos? Thunderhawk3015
I'm pretty sure the "Disbanded due to genetic instability" line still covers what happened to our second founding. I don't see the Inquisition being very sneaky about declaring a marine force renegade due to how much firepower they will need to clear them off. Valerian
I'm pretty sure the "Disbanded due to genetic instability" line still covers what happened to our second founding. None of the Space Wolves codices has ever stated that they were disbanded (only the 13th Company Index Astartes article from White Dwarf 283 mentions this possibility). I think I'll stick with the only direct answer that GW has provided on the matter: The Wolf Brothers (excerpted from the calleria M37) ...And ranging 'cross Yahals plain The Eldar turned at bay. They stood and fought, shed blood And burned A thousand men that day. Then Wolf Brothers came To slay them all, Bloody swords raised, howling, fangs gleaming Answering the warriors' call. No alien could stand against So fierce a foe, No trick would turn them aside. On they came, unstoppable To strike a deadly blow. Turning, fleeing the Eldar ran Through their portal Beyond the reach of man. Undaunted Wolf Brothers Pursued them unto realms immortal Though aliens were defeated, Their fury tamed, The ill-fated Wolf Brothers Were lost, mourned Never seen again... Jonny Wolf
There are only two states a Space Wolf can be: Loyal to the Imperium or Wulfen (and still loyal). The mere thought of a Space Wolf turning to Chaos is heresy!! HERESY I SAY!! The Thirst
if Valerian is right (which he usually is) i'd like to see them make a comeback l8r but seeing how 40k is eternally stuck in the same age id say they wont ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/223806-the-fate-of-the-wolf-brothers/#findComment-2677505 Share on other sites
MaveriK
I remember back in the 2nd edition codex, there were Space Wolf Red Corsairs fighting regular Space Wolves. The Red Corsairs Wolves had a red X painted on the knee pad and shoulder pad covering the wolf icons. This could explain the story about Huron taking a space wolf ship in the chaos codex. I could see small packs turn, but not an entire great company. Smaller packs without a strong alpha, or priest or lord tend to lose guidance and direction. There was also a wolf brother in the book Dead Sky Black Sun.
