Stretching the Stormraven - Stormraven limo?

Hullo out there. First post on the BoC forums. Woot!

Right to business. I recently brought the stormraven and after looking at the built kit in store decided it needed to be stretched as it was a little on the short side, and as so many people have started doing it I'd thought I'd have a go.

So off to the model shop for plasticard and I sat down to elongate the hull.

First up was to build the side and the front. I chose to cap off the turret with the LR turret plate by carefully filing out the hole to fit.

Next cut out a rectangular of plasticard and some angle sections to act as support.

Sticking the angle sections to the under side of the top plate, cutting off the little lip that is already there so they fit flush.

Then stick the rectangle to the sections for support.

I also added a seconds smaller rectangle on top of the other one - this is where the new turret will sit.

Next is the Bottom of the hull extension, A rectangle with a notch cut out along with two angle sections for stiffeners.

Here is where it sits.

And then with the stiffeners in place.

And with it all together (dry fitted) so far.

That's It so far, any comments or criticisms?

Looks like you're off to a pretty good start there, I wish I'd spent a bit more time reinforcing the plasticard joins on mine the way you have on this one.

I think we'll see a lot more of these 'stretch' Stormravens cropping up and it's good to see so many people correcting GW's oversights with this kit. I look forward to seeing how this project progresses :).

As an aside, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who snacks in my hobby area :)

cheers

After sleeping on it i decided that id use angle section to support the bottom extension plate.

and thus, all dry fitted together so far we get...

On not a completely un-related topic - The Gabriel Seth Artwork in the book is awsome! The model however looks a little strange with no hair so i thought I'd give him a bandanna to cover the ol'e dome
