insignia legitimacy

Hi guys, I have a large collection of Dark Angels that i have painted into a black and bleached bone scheme now that I want to change to a Disciples of Caliban, my question is alot of those have the "sword and wing" on them iconagraphy of the troops, banners, land raider doors etc. Do I need to buy new models? get to shaving that insignia off? or just role with it and paint the logo white? what do you fellow angels think?

Well, Each chapter has it's own iconography/heraldry. despite being a sucessor The disciples of caliban have their own history and deeds. IF you want to be 100% correct your DOC shouldn't bear the winged sword icons. Nothing wrong wit the angelic Icons.. but I guess a few winged swords here and there won't do any harm.

my 2 cents.

If the icons are really prominent, you might want to consider picking up or borrowing a dremel to essentially grind the iconography off of your tanks. For your troops themselves, careful work with a plastic cutter and hobby knife will get the job done.
I agree with what the above two posts. Minor winged sword icons on the torso, backpack or trinkets could simply be said to be in honor of their parent legion/chapter. Armor is passed down through the generations and onto successor chapters in some cases, so it's likely some of those details may remain. The banners and LR door I might consider redoing. You can probably pry the icon off the LR and replace with an angelic icon.
thats kinda what i was thinkin to guys a few of the angels would be ok but the sword and wings would have to go... now to price out a dremel and simple green :P lots a work thanks guys anyone know where i cant find some premade disciples decals? ive tried to make them of this site with the downloadable file and some decal paper but it doesnt seem to work for me

Could just do like I did to save time/effort. Paint all the wings dark grey, like they did in the few color pictures they gave us in the book. (this goes for all kinds of wings, imo, for DoC. atleast mine)

Which decals/transfers were you refering to on this site? To my knowledge, there are no 'pre-made' ones currently. And knowing GW, they probably wont be making any of them any time soon. Got any samples of how your own efforts on decals has gone? Or some details about what went 'wrong' with them.

well i had tried some hawk lords for my daughters but the ink wiped right off when i dipped it then found out that you put a clear coat to them, tried that and the color was to "see through" now i have to wait for some white decal paper to try the actual caliban ones but i wasnt real impressed with the end result so far ill just havta try to research it a bit more that or get good at free hand lol the downloads section on here has a ton of different decals for different chapters thats where i got them id kinda like to free hand them if i was good enough maybe if i could find a good real fine paint pen? anybody know of anywhere to get them? sorry i didnt take any pix of the process with the hawk lords i never thought to this weekend i will try it again (busy at work) and try to post up some pix so you guys may be able to tell where im screwing up
