The Sanctified

I prefer to play the game, rather than painting the figures. Most of my armies have been either metallic(Iron Warriors) or black(Black legion and Ravenwing). Each to paint, black undercoat, and a quick drybrush, and some minor details to managed the three colours demand in swedish tournement.

But this time I tried to get a better tabletop standard than usually. Since I really dislike to paint red, why not learn that at the same time.

After some tryouts, I found a quick way to paint. Getting a good result in little time, and it looks good at a 3 feet distance.

I chose The Sanctified as chaos chapter, mostly because I like the black helmets and the yellow "lightning"/"coloursplash" breaking up the red.

Somehow my black turned out very glossy on the testfigure, don´t know why.

1. Army painter White undercoat.

2. Vallejo Air Modell, Scarlet Red.

3. GW Devlan Mud wash.

4. Vallejo Air Modell, Scarlet Red, drybrushing.

5. Random colours for details later (Not done on the testfigure).

During the third phase, I littery drowned the figure in devlan mud, but always pulling brush towards the edges.

Second phase I used a airbrush, and all 39 csm took me about 30min to paint red.

Around 5h later the first four phases are done, now I ony have the details left.

Also started on some weapon teams(obliterators), can´t remember who made them first. But the first time I saw them was in Night Lords 18th Battle Company.

I magnetized them for the wound-count.

They look decent just now, maybe you should post a pic of the test model for 36" away so we can get a better idea?

The photo from my mobilephone wasn´t the greatest one at 36" distance!

Most of it just blurs together, so the photo aint showing much.

But i noticed that I really need to pratice painting thin lines. Any good advices?
