++To my anointed lord Inquisitor, I present to you evidence of Word Bearers activity in the Segmentum Ultima. They are beleived to be of the "XXVth Host" [cross reference: Word Bearer Legion + Organization + Host] Cult activities have increased planet wide exponentially before the sudden warp anomaly I had reported at 2543512 M41. Their first target seems to be the planet of Corulus designated C.7.56.2 in Imperial records. First contact noted drop landings deep in the salt plains of the Norman peninsula western sector by PDF scouting parties. Of the four, five man scouting teams sent to investigate only one has returned. The surviving team members (three in total) have been mangled and defiled with blasphemous symbols gouged into both their flesh and their armour. All three had their tongues removed and their eyes gouged out. The servo skull that accompanied the squad sergeant managed to capture a pict of its squads assailants before they were captured. We are dealing with a relatively small force but as my lord knows full well that nothing the Word Bearers enact is ever subtle and there may be more landings in the days to come. Contact with orbiting relay stations has been abruptly severed. "Bearers of the True Word" cult attacks have increased 100% with attacks focused on communication relay stations and key government buildings . If you receive this my lord I request immediate retaliation and Imperial Guard regiments to be sanctioned to reclaim what may well become lost. Marshal law has been enforced on Corulus and I await your word for the next steps in retaliation of the pending chaos forces. Attached is the pict capture taken by the surviving PDF scout team. May the Emperor protect. ++

+++Awaiting next action Lord Inquisitor+++

I present to you my newest project, the Word Bearers XXVth Host of the holy daemon father Lorgar.

Sons of Malice are on the back burner for now don't worry though I shall return to the rebel cannibals in due time. For now I have taken up my holy grimoire of the daemon and am proud to be spreading the True Word!!! *fires bolter and raises open book to the sky*

I am using a technique utilized by Doghouse on this very site for a "gothic" armour style. It involves sculpting up the bottom legs of the WFB Chaos Warriors and then slapping a Chaos Marine torso to the waist. I had to give it a swing and of course once I did the one I had to keep going. The result of which you will see below as I have a small 5 man squad started and plan to add more when I get my hands on some WFB Chaos Warrior sprues. I don't see myself as an amazing sculptor but the technique is somewhat simple and will keep me working with GS so over time I will know how to handle it better. I've been pondering on adding GS "flesh" litanies here and there so maybe I'll give that a swing too. Without further ado here are the current members of Squad Marghul....

The Aspiring Chump Marghul

Somewhat fuzzy detail of the base, I'm going for urban rubble so expect rebars sticking out of the sides and such

Mag-locked chainsword detail 2

So thats them. I had this vision of mag-locked chainswords, I've never liked the idea of space marines using straps to hold their chainswords and knives. I see it being more practical to mag-lock them to their armour, better then fiddling with straps and buttons me thinks.... Let me know what you guys all think C&C is always welcome and deeply appreciated.

My gawd, you start a new army like every week! <_<

Looks great though! I especially like the little details like the hand on the banner, the little demon skull and the handles on the chainswords. Fantastic!

Where are those handles from btw?

Keep up the great work!

@Vairocanum: Thanks. I'll definitely have some more coming maybe even some Discords and some daemon packs/daemon engines. Should be ordering some more Warrior parts a.s.a.p.

@Darius Macob: Thanks I'm a HUGE stickler on WYSIWYG, my gaming group drilled it into my brain so much haha. Oh and you will be seeing a Dark Apostle in the near future, the bits are in a baggy just waiting for me to get some more grunts done first. However the Host Acolyte will be finished first, he's just a small conversion rather then the elaborate Apostle so keep your eyes on this space.

@GooseDaMoose: Oh hush you haha :D just kiddin' its more like me having the attention span of a gold fish and being distracted by shiny things. However this project has been prominent in my mind for a LONG time. I'm glad you like the chainswords and all the little details, I cut the handles from the WFB Chaos Warriors weapons. I've pretty much been using every bit on the sprue. No waste in my bits box ;)

I should be getting more WFB Chaos Warriors bits soon. Don't know whether I'll buy a new set or just the sprues on order. Decisions, decisions....

Quick update brothers!

Just "finished" the First Acolyte Lemuel in TDA. Pics a bit dark but I'll try to get a lighter one in the morning before work. On a delightful side note I just uncovered 2 more WFB Chaos Warrior torsos so I'll be making some more brothers for squad Marghul. Enjoy!

Farewell brothers! Keep preaching the true word! C&C always welcome.

I always liked the Doghouse style marines, I dig the cork bases too, great start.

Yeah, I tried way back when the Chaos Warriors kit first came out and somewhat failed (maybe I'll post those up) then came upon Doghouses technique and went at it again haha. I am in love with cork, I've been wanting to try it for so long and now I cant stop. Thanks for the kind words.

Is that a Greater Deamon I see in the background? ;)

Lookin' good, but I must request more pictures, specifically of the Crozius I think, and maybe the gun? It looks just a tad large at the moment which is a thing that always annoyed me when it came to Chaos Termie guns, but anyway, stop with the filthy Chaos slaves and get back on the True Path of Malal!

Why yes he is a greater daemon of Nurgle!!!! BrAinZzZzZZzzz!!!

gallery_57364_5841_662405.jpg

So I tried out using a white background to take pictures and I like it alot. It seems to help with natural light so I'll go the extra mile from now on and use the white background.

Here's a new lighter pic of First Acolyte Lemuel...

gallery_57364_5841_190290.jpg

And just for you Goose some details of the "mini crozius" and his side arm (now I see a gap in the crozius that I need to fill :) )

The mini-crozius

The combi-bolter

gallery_57364_5841_826758.jpg

Both arms came standard with him when I bought him (there's another set of a power fist and a strange plasma gun :P) Hes the Chaos Lord/Sorcerer model that came out way back during the last global campaign GW ran "Fall of Medus V" I beleive, I miss those campaigns :wallbash:. They also released a Nurgle Daemon Prince (which I have in pieces waiting to be finished), the Vostroyan Imperial Guard (another army waiting to be painted) and those craptastic OOP metal Possessed Chaos Marines :yuck: (they were so horrible their still burnt into my memory) GW disposed of them right after the campaign they were so bad haha. Hope that helps! See you guys and gals later.

Wow, you went in the completely polar opposite of the SoM, Malevolent! :tu:

The Word Bearers have always been awesome in my opinion because of Chaos-praising Chaplains. Just never let one in your home...they won't leave until you convert!

Hope to see some painted soon.

Thanks hushrong! Yeah Word Bearers are the complete polar opposite of my SoM. Their the anti-christs televangelist's packing heat. I can just see it now... Dark Apostle's knocking on citizen doors. "yes hello I'd like to speak to you about the power of the chaos gods" "no no I'm fine thank you I beleive in the Emperor" "DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!" Whacks the guy with his crozius. Attaches chaos star to his forehead puts him in chains and tosses him in line with the other slaves. "oh you will see the light whether you want to or not" I should be getting some primer and paints this coming Friday and I'll begin the painting process (and hopefully getting my grubby claws on some more parts to make more squads). Thanks for the kind words.

The strange Plasmagun is supposed to be a Kai gun I do believe.. Anywho yeah it's all good. I'm really looking forward to seeing some paint on these suckas so you can get on with your SoM ^_^ I jest, but can't wait to see some painted Word Bearers!

@GoosedaMoose: Oh yeah I completely forgot about the Kai Gun. Is it just me or was that the strangest daemon weapon they've come up with. "Hey its a huge boltgun type thing made by random Dark Mechanicus people in the Warp". I hated the old metal daemon prince simply because it had that Kai Gun built into its left arm and looked awkward to me. And on the topic of my SoM, I'll be back to them as soon as I get my claws on some thicker plasticard. I have to say though, after seeing your painted SoM I'm even more motivated to get back to mine

@Nataneal: Thanks brother! That was definitely the look I was going for.

Oh snap! I honestly never saw yours before I made mine, that is just crazy. I was going through my old Berzerkers and was like "Hmmm, my old berzerker bunny ears would make a perfect Sauron style mace/crozius!" Great minds really do think alike.
