Nikolakhs
I ask because I know that the Imperial Guard was the Imperial Army back then, and the only chapter I know of that has a pdf that shares its colors are the Ultramarines. I was wondering if someone like the Death Guard would have had a white and green PDF back on Prospero, etc. Thanks, Nikolakhs Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224338-did-great-crusade-era-sm-homeworlds-have-pdf-garrisons/ Share on other sites
Angel Descendant
There was some sort of a militia/PDF type force on Caliban, called the jagers (German for hunters), and I'm pretty sure they wore green uniforms.... they're mentioned in Fallen Angels. I assume you mean Thousand Sons on Prospero? That's their homeworld, not the Death Guard's. And yeah they also had a PDF which is mentioned towards the end of Prospero Burns and possibly in A Thousand Sons. Those are the only examples I can actually confirm Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224338-did-great-crusade-era-sm-homeworlds-have-pdf-garrisons/#findComment-2682478 Share on other sites
Clewz
The Prospero ones were the Spire Guard Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224338-did-great-crusade-era-sm-homeworlds-have-pdf-garrisons/#findComment-2682634 Share on other sites
Sons of Horus
The Luna Wolves had ties to a branch of the Imperial Army but I'm not sure if they also served as PDFs back on Cthonia. Caliban and Prospero had their own. Nikolakhs
Uh yeah, I didn't mean Prospero lol, that is Thousand Sons. I meant Barbarus, home of the Death Guard. Because I am making some Heresy-era Imperial Guardsmen to complement my future heresy-era death guard, and I just want to know if that's in the fluff at all, if it makes sense to have them in similar colors, or to just ditch that idea outright. Thanks for the responses, they've been insightful. -nikolakhs Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224338-did-great-crusade-era-sm-homeworlds-have-pdf-garrisons/#findComment-2683410 Share on other sites
malika666
Note that during the Great Crusade the Imperial forces were divided into Expedition Fleets. These are collections of various forces. This means that the Death Guard could have been supported by various other forces, be it the Imperial Army, Titan Legions or even other Astartes. This means that the Imperial Army forces don't have to look like the Death Guard. However, you could add details to show that they are loyal or fighting with the Death Guard, maybe a small Death Guard icon on their banners or something? Arkangilos
Why? This is an interesting topic, and if I were to ask this same question, everyone would say, "They have a thread already!" even though it clearly doesn't answer all of teh questions. Lord Lorne Walkier
The Raven Guard had some sort of PDF force with them. Unsure if they were just navy but they have some traditions. Flight of the Raven and Face of Treachery feature them to a degree. Skirax
Nothing on Fenris, but all our inhabitants are born fighting anyway, plus if you read the start of Prospero Burns, if anything comes to Fenris that is a "Bad Omen, like a star falling from the heavens", which most drop-ships tend to look like, aett's set out on Murder-makes, or hunts, and attempt to eradicate the fallen omen and anyone hiding/concealing it.
