After_8
Veteran Blood Angels apparently now wear gold helmets. Terminator armoured marines are all veterans. Should terminators wear gold helmets? Why do I still only see red everywhere (I acknowledge that people don't want to change stuff that was already red but I would've expected to see new terminators with gold heads)? Gv0zD
Golden Power Armor helmet is Veteran's distinction. Terminator Armor is Veteran's distinction in itself. If you wear TDA, everyone around knows you're a veteran.
Brother Nathan
because terminator armour is amongst the highest marks of being a veteran. it needs no futher explaination. its like telling someone about someone being tall, you dont really need to they will catch on... Mr.darkness
Have painted all of my termies heads gold simply because they look cool. And anyway, it's not like it makes any difference so i say just paint them how you like, the fluff doesn't really matter that much.
Brother Nathan
shhh, dont say hat too loud, youll wake the fluff junkies up... lol try it if you want, personally im not a fan of termies with gold helms. white works for smurfs, black for salamanders, but i dont think gold works for ba termys... Brother_Mike
Well, Blood Angels veterans always had Gold Helmets, at least since I started playing in 3rd. Terminator Armor remains all Red though, it's assumed that the Marine is of veteran status ( and personally I think Gold helmets on Terminators would look silly). Of course, if you want your Terminator helmets to be Red, who should stop you? Well, Blood Angels veterans always had Gold Helmets, at least since I started playing in 3rd. Brother Chris
No they didn't. Unlike the Ultramarines there was no specific helmet colour for veterans, whether first company or sergeants. BA helmets were branch of service (tactical, devastator, assault or honour guard). As the only veteran units we knew of were veteran assault squads, they had yellow branch of service helmets. I suppose it was the introduction of the five sadoes in the first company who wanted to be in the rear (sorry) stern-guard, a Matt Ward invention from C:SM, I think, that raised the question. 'Man up and put those jump-packs on', would have been my response, had I been Captain of the first company. I refuse to repaint my lovely Veteran Assault figures, so every new veteran assault marine (and I think Vanguard is a cool name, happy to use it) who joins is painted with yellow helmet. The stern guard (stupid name) however wil get gold helmets when I get round to painting them. The terminators are of course red all over.

Veteran Assault Squads were introduced in the PDF and had yellow helmets, as they were assault squads. It was only the honor guard that had gold helmets. It wasn't until this current codex that the veterans starting wearing gold helmets. Terminators wear red helmets because the armor used to be commonly refered to as "Tactical Dreadnaught Armor". They were considered "tactical' squads so kept the same red helmets as power armor tacticals. That being said... Who cares? Paint 'em how you like. Why didn't Assault Terminators had yellow helmets? :D Anyway I like golden vet helmets, imho it suits power armored BAs. But for TDA golden helmets is a bit too much. But for TDA golden helmets is a bit too much. Originally there wasn't a separate codex distinction between regular terminator squads and assault terminator squad. The units just had mixed weapons in them. Assault term squads (as a separate entry) were added in 3rd edition (I think). As to why they didn't change them yellow, I don't know. Maybe tradition, maybe because they were still in TDA. Sort of like the way they keep heavy weapons in tact squads red.
