Underestimating Fenrisian Wolves

Today, I had a great game (KP 7-6) and enjoyed watching 10 f. wolves charging five terminators and a librarian. Forgot that they had base 2 attacks, but the wolves still chomped on one terminator.

never gonna discount them! cheap meat-shields with claws and fangs? HELL YEAH

chomped on one terminator.

Er... so what are you saying, they killed one terminator? Or that there was one terminator left?

You can't really discount anything. I've seen grots kill abaddon twice. And I've seen my wolf lord on bike downed by some crisis suits... All you can do, is know around about how many models will be killed if things go roughly according to statistics. And if you use statistics, those 10 wolves will eat through one terminator and then chew another one's arm off. And then, depending on what kind of terminators you charged (lets assume they're ones with dual lightning claws), they'll lose half their number and then get overrun and killed. So you lose 80 points, and kill 40(ish), and you give your opponent a free consolidation move. Bad deal, IMO. And in the process you also forfeit a victory point, whereas your opponent doesn't.

If you used them as meat shields and then bite the heads off some scouts, that'd be a different story (not very fluffy, but effective). Using them as shields and then wasting them... not so good.

Thanks for sharing all the stories! Truly, this game is full of wondrous chance.

1 terminator killed, they were using chainfists to carve up vehicles.

I've always thought of them as meat-shields and today taught me a lesson not to underestimate them. Definitely got to remind myself, they strike like Grey Hunters on the charge

It was either charge or get charged the next turn. Mopped up the remainder with melta and missile fire.

oh and it is worth remembering that termies cant sweeping advance, so your wolves probably wont get over run if they lose the combat

Oh and on to silly stories I've had bases of nurglings fighting grey knights and killed 3 of them in 1 round of combat :)

I've dragged down two five-man squads of Grey Knight Termies with a squad of fifteen Wolves. The lil' buggers are tenacious, if anything; if they hit combat, they almost always win their points back. (Lawl, 100 point squad of Wolves killing 250+ points of Termies.)

REASON FOR EDIT: Closed parenthesis

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

sorry couldnt resist

what's that from? sounds really familiar

last battle battle I had a unit of 8 wolves and a lord beat the crap out of 10 chaos marines and 3 chaos terminators. (wolves were at init 5, and lord fought the termies). bad thing was that the chaos dudes failed their morale tests, fled and died, this left me in the open and next turn they were shot to pieces.

but was great fun to see.
