Mark of the Wulfen?

Go for it mate - glad to provide some inspiration ;) I love this config. as it makes them look more of a 'berzerker' type character and with the 2x Chainsword the model actually looks like he might be able to pull off some of the silly number of attacks you can roll ;)

I was also thinking of trying to paint yellow "wolf eyes" on the model. Maybe I'll post a picture when I'm done.

@ Darkseer - I couldn't agree more. I know a lot of people love the 'wolfman' image for their MotW (And fair enough - each to their own) - but I prefer to think of the model as a champion or berserker within the squad. One of the pack known for their ferocity in CC and skill wielding dual blades etc - as opposed to a guy who's having a seriously hard time with puberty ;)

Mark of the Wulfen is brillaint, though I would never rely to heavy on the rending, just more for me the amount of the attack. More dice the oppent has to roll to make saves!!!

Model wise, I tend to use Beastmen shield, taken the idea from the Lone Wolf art work I though it be cool. Also help the model stand out as in the heat of a game you can easily forget if the model got a small tatto for exsample on his face. So shield just held me notice the Mark of the Wulfen right away.

See what you mean about the shield. Surely two axes would look more the part than two chainswords? They'd be dropped pretty quick after the first few swings.

So....hairy, man wolf berzerkers with twin cc weapons in aggressive stances. I'm sold already. Glad I asked. Getting some good stuff. Be interesting to see if the yellow eyes work Malachi.

Two axes would be sweet actually - I hadn't thought of that :P I use twin chainswords simply because of the avilablity of parts in my bits box. Also, my army is less 'wolfed up' in appearance than many - and I do tend to use swords/chainswords wherever possible. Still - given the parts I'd probably go with axes myself as I think that image is fantastic :)

Agree about the eyes. While it doesn't make your model stand out from the crowd - it would add something to the model. Pics would definitely go down well Malachi ;)

Whether or not MOTW is "worth it" depends on what you already have in the squad, and what the squad is for.

I find that with a Wolf Standard and an attached Wolf Guard with a powerfist, I do good enough. With the savings of not putting in a MOTW in 3 packs, that's 45 points, which is almost two long fangs with missile launchers. I'd rather have the missile launchers personally.

If you are going for the crazy close combat army, then it might be worth it....

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=211665 my husband has two models that I know of, that does justice to a model with a mark of the wulfen. But I have to say I like both the werewolf and berserker look.

wow! I like your army, very nice. I think it's one of the best looking Space Wolf armies here :)

For me, only wolves in the Wolf Guard or one of the higher orders have earned the right to go bareheaded, so all of my Grey Hunters are normally helmeted. For my Mark of the Wulfen models, I give them the special shoulder pad with the skull and scroll on it, and on the scroll I paint "WULFEN". It fits perfectly if you use a thin brush. They also go without helmets to represent their berserker approach to warfare, and I almost always paint their irises red. They're almost instantly recognizable on the tabletop.

Yes as said just Sheild for me help out. Two Chains axe would be pretty cool as well from the Bezerker set & as said there a Bezerker bear head which look really cool.

If you want to go a bit more Wulfen, I rememeber someone on here had done some really nicely converted plastic Wulfen useing Marines & Beastmen bits.

Ok will do. I'm painting the first 5 from my current box right now, and my Wulfen guy will be in the next 5 that I do, so it may be a little while...

Nice. No rushing though.

The choice between power weapon and MotW is a toss up really, the math hammer is so close it comes down to personal preference. If you do decide to go with a MotW model, simple use the wolf helmet that comes in the kit. I see it as a ceremonial piece of armor that a Wolf Priest would give a grey hunter suffering from the bestial call of the woven. Maybe its inscribed with runes that keeps the hunter from loosing themselves to the .

If you wanted to get a little dynamic use the combination of of the helmet and gene-stealer claws to represent the rending potential.
