Dannis' LPC updates

So okay, I originally wanted to update with quite allot of pictures. Where the models were almost finished, but as I forgot to bring my camera with me the 'newer' pictures have to wait. As we have to put up some wip pictures here some, not so exciting, wip pics.

I vowed 1 Sons of Orar marine, 5 initiates, 2 neophytes, 2 terminators and the EC.

The bone 'eagles' are done in this pic. So are the bone pieces of the powerfist. One terminator is still waiting for some greenstuff here (and still is currently.. :o ) but his face is done though. (The neophytes are on the background of the terminators).

- Yes.. the sword is broken. He once fell during a game and it somehow broke of. We couldn't find the piece back so.. :(

And this is my new workspace. I don't have to clean up when I'm finished painting anymore. I can leave all the stuff.. so much more relaxed! (plus I get into painting a bit faster now :P)

And I see there is a brave initiate in the background who probably smelt some Xenos blood and decided to check it on his own! :tu:

Thanks. For bone I do the following:

Snakebite leather basecoat, Devlan Mud wash, I rehighlight with SL, follow with SL/Bleached Bone mix, then a thinned down BB, followed by a less thinned down BB on the edges.

I'm still planning to make a tutorial, might do that in the near future with some new models :HQ:

Hot damn, about time! As usual, your talent for dynamic shading on the lighter colors inspires me to cave in your head with the nearest blunt object in a fit of jealous rage, but I will do my best not to (until you're finished).

Cheers.

So, here a update on one of the terminators.

Yes, the cloak is very shiny. That is because I already gave it a hardcoat of gloss varnish. This way I won't ruin the cloak whilst holding the model. Same goes for the base :D

And here the display marine I also vowed, a Sons of Orar marine. There was this painting competition at my LGS where you needed to paint a miniature in one day (less then 8hrs). I figured I give it a shot, and this is what I got:

Ohhh a Dannis BT update....ok, shiny cape, I can deal with that.

Wait...what's this red fellow? Blaspheme! BLASPHEME!

Anyway, that fellow is pretty impressive given one day of work. I'm gonna have to ask that you make that bone coloring tutorial ASAP though, so I can see if it's possible to easily improve my own BT with it. I'd much prefer the smooth blend you seem to have mastered over my own technique (or lack thereof).

I'll see what I can do Firepower.. I still remember I promised making a tutorial.. :P

But as I said before, this is how I do it: Snakebite leather > Devlan Mud wash > SL highlights again > SL/Bleached Bone highlight > Several Thinned down BB highlights (edges more BB layers ofcourse).

The shiny-ness will go away though. When the whole model is finished I'm giving it a matt-coat of varnish. Currently the hardcoat is just to prevent the paint from chipping off.

The terminator is almost finished now though. Only need to finish the black armor highlights and the LC and then he's done. Hope I can give another update today, but I'm quite busy with school though.

And the SoO marine is still standing at my LGS, he went 2nd btw. I'm also quite pleased with the result, giving this was a painting competetion and we had to finish the model in one sitting. I think in total I have spent about 7hrs on it, maybe a little less (starting at 10.00u, counting in some breaks to walk around, go outside, eat).

I hope I get more updates soon :)

Ok, so I haven't touched a brush in about a week. I need to finish a paper and the requirments are quite high... it gives me allot of stress and hairloss!

Anyways, since I want to keep this new thread updated every several days (I try to atleast... ) here a pic of how they are standing right now. They are really almost finished, still need some minor things to do.

Things I still need to do on these 5 models:

Black Armor highlights

Some purity seals

Some other minor details (red crosses, red on kneepads)

A lion cloth

Freehand on the armor

And the shoulderpads! :P

When writing this, this might still look quite something, but I found out ways of painting faster and I think these things will take me about a few hours to finish.

Anyways, 'nough chatting, here the pics ;)

Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures. I'm hoping to update the finished mini's this weekend with better pics :)
