chewielight's army

I hear you on the time and the pictures. Its not going to be pretty when I start posting pics of my army as it gets repainted, though the room has good lighting so all I really need is a clear day. Unfortunately too much school, which is convienently where I make most of my posts from.

I still need to get some markings on these guys. I also have alot of work to do on a few of them for eyes and final highlights. I will say one thing about pictures like this is really makes the meh stand out and now I know what I need to work on. Sad that the entire army is a work in progress but it will come along as I have time.

Any advise on painting that I might be missing. Better yet how can I make my pictures come out better.

Check out this area of the B&C:

There is some great information on how to take good pics and how to clean them up. There are tutorials on how to provide difuse lighting, camera positioning and what not. It is a great area, even if some of it is a bit more involved than I can get into right now.

Well I picked up a light box and tripod so I can see about some better shots. Thanks for the links and advise. I have an upcoming Apoc game coming up that I might get all of my guys on the table. 10k per side. I picked up some more termi boxes. I want to field a first company all vets. I might get some sternguard rolling as well. My next big purchase will be a thunderhawk but that is in the future.

Stayed tuned.

This one is a lot better, but we are still losing the highlights to glare. But still, looks very clean for the most part. Good work on the wings on the sword, but it looks like you let the back pack wings plain white. It looks like you need to touch up the gold on the legs where the drybrush got a little overzealous. The base is however completely epic, and the blood drops look like they have some real depth to them. I actually really like the blue on the lenses.
Yeah the base is part of my lava theme. Thanks for the feedback. The blue, red are from a new type of paint I am using and it is just crazy good. W&N water oil paints. Takes days to dry but is just deep and rich. I am going to try to work with a black background on these guys to see if I can reduce the glare.
The first few pictures weren't doing your painting skills very much justice. That last one looks great, but you defiantly need to add some kind of shading to the wings so that they don't looks so flat. I'd also do something with the bolter, black is great for the regular marines but for the SG that bolter needs to look like it was specially crafted for the chapter's most elite warriors.
