Studio Silvernale
With the totally new color scheme in IA10, I've taken on the task of repainting my marines (about 4 squads). They have a silvery backpack, with the veterans having a light gold/bronze pack. Veteran sergeants and captains have the same light gold/bronze on their helmets as well. According to the guy I emailed at FW, they are inspired off the old Kull/Conan stories. My photography skills aren't so good, but their eye lenses are deep red. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v169/Asamiya_Chan/WH40K/DSC00840.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v169/Asamiya_Chan/WH40K/DSC00839.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v169/Asamiya_Chan/WH40K/DSC00842.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v169/Asamiya_Chan/WH40K/DSC00841.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224541-executioners/ Share on other sites
Vincent Black Shadow
I can hear the lamentations of their women. Nice painting! Very classy look. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224541-executioners/#findComment-2685832 Share on other sites
smallvictory
Super dig the camo cloak and the overall look of the marines. But the gold backpacks are way over the top, too much bling for the dark future of 40k IMO. Casual Heresy
Captain = total pimp. In other news. Your marines are loking very good so far. Not sure about fully gold backpacks but thats just me. Firepower
"And so Bob said to the Astartes 'Look, I really think that the gold is just a bit ostentatious.' He will be missed." If the Sanguinary guard can get away with it, I don't see anything wrong with a touch of gold. My one bit of advice would be to transplant the color scheme for the scout rifle to the bolters: black casing with metallic details. I'll just bite my proverbial tongue about the wench beside the massive sword, for fear of the Administratum Inquisition. Also, I concur, awesome job on the camo cloak. Heru
Try Brazen Brass instead of "gold" (brass is "light bronze"). Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224541-executioners/#findComment-2686135 Share on other sites
Octavulg
You're doing a nice job of it, though I admit I prefer the old scheme. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224541-executioners/#findComment-2686139 Share on other sites
DAG42
Nice painting, clean. 2 questions though. What color are you using for the armor? What company? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224541-executioners/#findComment-2686152 Share on other sites
Studio Silvernale
Actually the packs/helms *are* painted in brass not gold. The armor base is "blue steel" from Reaper Pro Paints line. This is the 5th company (black trim). Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224541-executioners/#findComment-2686153 Share on other sites
Heru
Actually the packs/helms *are* painted in brass not gold. Really? Must be more goldlike than I remember, I guess I need to go look at the pot of brazen brass in my paint set... Capt. Hyperion
Love it! Battle Brother: "Hey Captain!? What is best in life?" Captain: [austrian accent]"To crush your enemies....."[/austrian accent] Looks like he should belong in a Boris Vallejo painting. Studio Silvernale
Actually I based my captain on Vallejo art. For the chapter banner I translated that famous line into latin and will have it at the bottom of the banner.
