Azatoth
Well I only skimmed over the new GK codex in my shop, but has the Vindicare Assassin been nerfed? I didn't see the old rule that they can shoot into close combat. Deadshot doesn't cover that does it? BrotherWasted
Can't shoot into close combat, IIRC, but being able to allocate the wounds yourself is still pretty boss. Gentlemanloser
(edit) LoL, that's what I get for just waking up. Yes, the Vindicare has lost that ability. But overall is so much better that doesn't matter. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224580-vindicare-nerfed/#findComment-2686355 Share on other sites
Azatoth
Well being able to use the different types of ammo several times now it nice, and you can still pick out those power fist/whatever-eqipped models before they're in cc. *Furyou Miko
Unlimited special ammo and what basically amounts to an average AP roll of 15 pretty much make losing the ability to shoot into combat fine. gil galed
I think not being able to shoot into CC is a price worth paying for multiple uses of special ammo & ridiculous turbo-pen shots! ~Gil  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224580-vindicare-nerfed/#findComment-2686450 Share on other sites
Chengar Qordath
Don't forget the really high BS meaning that you get to re-roll to hit now as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224580-vindicare-nerfed/#findComment-2686478 Share on other sites
BrotherWasted
not to mention weapon skill 8 as well. even hitting the guy in Close combat will require a 6. If your Vindicare is in close combat, you're already in trouble, especially since his own close combat ability is not so great. A vindicare in close combat is a vindicare who's not shooting... But of course. It's a small thing, really, compared to what he is actually designed to do. Yes he will get squished, but due to his extremely high WS he can dodge quite a lot of stuff coming even from many HQ or monstrous creatures - thus giving you time to perhaps save him (or perhaps use him as bait) with a dedicated CC unit like Purifiers or Paladins/GKTs. Even a Daemon Prince hits this guy on 5+, is what I'm saying. Even a Daemon Prince hits this guy on 5+, is what I'm saying. Nothing requires a 6 to hit in a normal combat. The range is from 3-5 (special rules aside) which is rather limited but that's how they made it. And a Prince will be hitting on 4's as well. For a Prince to be needing a 5 to hit him the assassin would need to be WS15. Azatoth
Yes you needed 5+ only if the opponent's WS is more then twice yours. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224580-vindicare-nerfed/#findComment-2686562 Share on other sites

Ashe Darke
It's ok. It's still beastly although very annoying. WS9 would leave marines hitting on 5s. But he is WS8 and so it's 4's <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224580-vindicare-nerfed/#findComment-2686584 Share on other sites
hmk17
Never count on just weapon skill to save a model from attack. There is way too much in this game that nullifies high WS. I do not think this is a good thing. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224580-vindicare-nerfed/#findComment-2687495 Share on other sites
SamaNagol
Vindicare just gets put in a 'nest' and left to do his work with a 3+ Cover save and 4+ invulnerable. Admittedly he will die to a single wound from a Krak missile, but he has the hitting power to earn his points back in a turn of shooting possible. boreas
Hummm... Since vindicares don't have "independant character", they can benefit from "The Grand Strategy". Hence, Hellfire shots (that wound on 2+) could re-roll all "ones" to wound . So the guy hits 92% of the time (BS 8) and wounds 97% of the time. Harsh! In the same vein, you could ahve your Eversor Scouting for nice outflanking fun.
