Grizzly Adams
do the new PAGK storm bolters look retarded? they are big, bulky, and the sickle mags just look terrible. Overall, i am likin all the new resculpts, but the storm bolters are provin to be a tough pill to swallow Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224643-am-i-the-only-one-or/ Share on other sites
Noirceuil
The storm bolters do look a bit larger than they do on the original metal models. I'm not sure how I feel about it right now. I guess I need to get some better views of them before I decide. With the ability to customize the GKiPA squad, I just might be able to overlook how cartoonish they look, if I can capitalize on the new abilities the new squad configurations will offer :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224643-am-i-the-only-one-or/#findComment-2687242 Share on other sites
BrotherWasted
they seem size appropriate to me. A storm bolter is longer than a bolt pistol but not as long as a bolter in terms of frame, so the new resculpts seem fine to me. The look no more retarded than the Angelus Boltguns of the BA Sanguinary Guard. Reclusiarch Darius
I'm not a fan either TBH, but I can't say they look bad...I just prefer the 60 metal sculpts I have already. Plastic is nice (more poses etc), but I prefer the backpack link design for the storm bolters. chromedog
The look no more retarded than the Angelus Boltguns of the BA Sanguinary Guard. No more retarded than the BA ones doesn't make them any LESS retarded, either. I'd just not glue them on (apparently they are a separate bit - the mags) and either make up (or swipe from other bits) box mags like the normal SM terminator ones have (or if you can swing it, sculpt new belt feeds up). BrotherWasted
I should probably reword my response. I don't think they're retarded at all. You want to stick a double barreled machingun on your wrist, expect it to be bulky. it is that simple. Sothalor
I think it's a reaction to the change from the old metal sculpts. Yes, the backpack ammunition link was awesome, but that's because the bolter arm and body were one piece. Consider how limited the possible poses would be with a plastic kit if you always had to make sure the ammo link was correct. I suspect the new storm bolter mags are a compromise. The designers probably wanted to allow collectors to pose the Grey Knights as they want while still conveying the "feel" of the storm bolter, which is a double barreled boxy gun that spews mini RPG rounds at assault rifle rates of fire. Face it, if they didn't have those mags people would be complaining about how the ammo source for the storm bolters is totally insufficient. Give it some time; people will probably warm up to them once they get a little more used to them. Reclusiarch Darius
Oh I think we all know the practical reasons they went for magazines. We're just picky and hard to please ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224643-am-i-the-only-one-or/#findComment-2687302 Share on other sites
templargdt
Not of fan of the large magazines, either. We'll have to see how it looks in real life when I'm finally actually holding a plastic Grey Knight in my hand (joy!) From the looks of it online, you could probably shave a bit off the magazine before putting it together so it didn't stick out so far.
