JMac
If I used this model's torso and body for a TDA Captain, would that be acceptable fluff wise? I am no expert, so I'm looking for your assistance. Are the scrolls on the torso a specific decoration for a chaplain? http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1240840_99060101315_SMTermChaplainmain_873x627.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224648-acceptable/ Share on other sites
Gv0zD
Chaplain-specific items are crozius (mace), rozarius (amulet) and skull helm. Scrolls, purity seals are general space marine decorations. IMHO it would be better to use regular termie to build your captain and eqip him with whatever you want. JMac
I feel as if the poses and looks of the termis don't pop. Is there another option to work with? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224648-acceptable/#findComment-2687433 Share on other sites
Gv0zD
Why do you need a captain? He is pretty useless when compared to Librarians or Reclusiarchs. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224648-acceptable/#findComment-2687434 Share on other sites
Emperors Immortals
Yes, its appropriate and acceptable. Good luck and post some pics (or it didnt happen, like the time Jervis Johnson won that battle report in WD). Chaplain Admetus
Head swap, arm swap (the crozius arm), and maybe get rid of some of the chaplainy bling, (that big censer to the side of his scroll), and you should be alright. As long as there's no obvious confusion you shouldn't have a problem. I'd also consider the termie librarian - it would require a bit more converting work though, but if you got rid of the books, psychic hood, and swapped the staff for a different weapon the pose would be much nicer (IMO anyway, I prefer dynamic to static models, especially on HQs). End of the day, its your little plastic/metal spaceman, do what makes you happy! Eorek
I'd atleast switch his weapon + paint him red(or whatever colour you're painting your army...just not chaplain black) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224648-acceptable/#findComment-2687603 Share on other sites
Grazcruzk
It really depends on the way the rest of the army looks in my opinion. I, for one, am a big fan of the censers on chains and see it as perfectly acceptable. The biggest thing that yells chaplin is the crozious. Different weapon for sure. After that is the skull helm and even that could be passable if you really don't want to do much converting. Then again I'm not the best for sticking to fluff when it comes to getting rid of character-specific bts and gubbins. Sanguinarian
I would honestly consider 5th Edition BA as one of those stark times where every Captain succumbed to the Red Thirst and our Chapters are led by Reclusiarchs and Epistolaries!?! At least that's my thinking until the powers-that-be at GW un-nerf our Captains. :) BUT.....if you just have to have a Captain - as useless as they are because they fail to enhance our force in any way - you could get away with it with a red paintjob and a weapon swap, or if they're available to you, then maybe use one of the Veteran Sergeants from Space Hulk. But it is YOUR army, and ultimately any figure can be whatever YOU want it to be in friendly games. Tournaments are a different story though, where everything must be WYSIWYG. The Crimson Cartel
I'd atleast switch his weapon + paint him red(or whatever colour you're painting your army...just not chaplain black) ^ This. Give him a power weapon, or fist/hammer of some kind, and paint him your standard chapter color. There's nothing wrong with saying your termie captain has a bad ass artificer helm that just happens to be skull shaped ^_^ -CC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224648-acceptable/#findComment-2688717 Share on other sites
JMac
Thanks for all the input guys. I have assembled the model and would post pics if it wasn't for my camera. (For one, its a piece of poop; two, its pink. Its my girlfriend's) It came out looking alright, I think with it all painted up it will look 10x better. I'll scour my room looking for my camera so I can get some decent shots of it. I want a captain to lead my company. Will I use him frequently, probably not. Every army has to have a leader though.
