Carcharodons!(Them New Age Space Sharks)

Recommended Posts

Well, I decided my Lamenters could use a little more love, and while I'm waiting for more of their arrive, I decided I may as well try my hand at the Carcharodons/Space Sharks. I already have a small force I was building up for a miscellaneous marine army, and plenty of bitz to work with, so these two are just the start of it all!

First off is Captain Mokarran, who's still PIP!

(The red helmet crest/stripe is a simple homage to the classic Space Shark scheme and style)

Next is Epistolary Mustelus, who I just finished building moments ago out of boredom. Still needs a bit of cleaning.

At least at a damned minimum, there's a basecoat on everyone I currently have; not counting expected deliveries!

  • 2 weeks later...

Stuff is still being worked on, and I ended up with some Scouts from the Land Speeder Storm box, minus the arms, heads, or weapons, so I blended them with a box of regular Scouts and some extra parts I had.

Enjoy my Carcharodon Scout Squad! A Telion Count-As will soon be ready for them too after they get cleaned!

Also, Librarian Mustelus is nearly complete. 'Yeah, that's a purple and blue mohawk. It's an homage the one I had a few years back.

Tyberos has arrived, and is nearly complete to boot! I've loved painting this mini so far. Still waiting for my Tamiya Red to show up though.

Well, it seems like not many people really want to respond or anything, so I'm just tempted to stop updating.

Anyways, here's a finished Tyberos, Mustelus, and Mokarran.

What grey is that you are using Adeptus Battlegrey?

I basecoat them in Charadon Granite, highlight with Adeptus Battlegrey, wash with a heavyily watered down Badab Black and Devlan Mud for the grimy look, and then highlight with 1/1 Codex Grey and Fortress Grey.

I love Tyberos, but the way the blood is painted on him makes me imagine shin-kicking a poor sod repeatedly until his head burst like an over ripe watermelon...

Hah, maybe he grabs them with his fist and breaks them against his shin?

Edit: That, and I always read pieces of background where the marine uses his body as a weapon too, so the extra bits of gore too me always seem like they fit. A knee there, a punch there, throw in a shoulder ram or swipe, etc.

I like the look of your army so far. Please don't get discouraged by a lack of replies, the B&C has its slow days once in a while. I am currently gathering parts to make a Carcharodons force using mostly FW armor variants and your topic has inspired me to pick up the pace and actually start assembling and painting some stuff soon. I may have missed this but I was curious as to what you were going to use for the chapter symbol, freehand or transfers? I am torn on the subject and am hoping that Forge World will release a transfer sheet soon and make up my mind for me. Thanks for the inspiration and please keep posting updates for us to enjoy.

The great MK IIB Land Raider Crusader, Carcharias, is built!

When I saw the Carcharodons in the Badab War with their MKIIB Land Raider, and the Minotaurs with their MKIIB Redeemer, I decided on my idea.

Build a Pre-Heresy Land Raider that has been converted into a Land Raider Crusader!

Enjoy the results.

I know exactly how you feel. My first WIP thread a couple months back suffered the same fate.

I'm going to watch and comment on this thread just because of that. Not much I can give you in the way of advice as it is, but it is looking pretty nice :D
