Wulfebane
So... I hear two popular methods of fielding Long Fangs. -A pack with a Cyclone WGpl -A pack with a dedicated Razorback Which is better? Which do you prefer? Is there absolutely no way to have both? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224734-long-fangs-accessorized/ Share on other sites
hendrik
ofcourse you can have both, you just won't be able to ride inside the razorback. a WG in TDA is always a good idea since he can soak up a lot more wounds using his 2+ save and even has his inv save when you get hit by some AP2 weapons. besides this he also gives the pack a powerweapon making it less atractive to attack Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224734-long-fangs-accessorized/#findComment-2688259 Share on other sites
narf
for the 63 points he costs he provides the following + 2 ML a turn + 2 Storm bolters shots per turn + 2 PW attacks in combat + 2+ armour save + 5++ invulnerable. This means whilst the LF sarg is available that means you can split 7 ML shots at 2 targets with ease, and if they are close enough add a couple of stormb bolter shots. The Razor would be better off bought a for a GH pack, whether or not they use it, as the LF's should not really start in it, unless its DOW. They don't have to start in it, since they'd loose their heavy weapon attack on the turn they disembark. The question rather is, whether You wish to use RB as a cover for them on Turn 1 and some kind of babysitter against unexpected threats (infiltrators, deepstrikers etc) later during the game. Wysten
Razorback when massing loads of razorbacks anyway, or don't really care to get exactly 5 wolf guard for the cyclone combo. Cyclone guy when naither of the above applys, two missles for 63 is pretty fantastic, but only if you can ensure places for the other 4 guys, natural in a space wolves list. PKAwolf
If you use 2+ LF units (and why shouldn't you) the RBs are easier to get for every unit compared to fielding the necessary WG to aquire the Cyclone racks. Plus its nice to have the up to 3 high Str AP2 shots. Schertenleib
I take both. The Razor gives some extra firepower and works good as insurance against Dawn of War missions. In case of DoW the Wolfguard is not deployed with the Fangs. Last time I played I never actually had to put the unit into the Razor. I would then send the Razor out on a flank as a running gunboat. My opponents would spend a lot of time shooting at the Razor and keep fire off my other units.
