Just incase anyone hasn't seen the new GK models they're now available on pre-order

So I'm starting a new topic to discuss the models (not the rules themselves)

Personally I'm pretty meh about the whole wave, the basic GK squad looks plain, the GK terminator squad look like they're all out of proportion.

Frankly I wish instead of waiting 2+ years for plastics I'd bought more squads when you could. I'm hoping I'm wrong when I eventually get to see them, like I was with the SR, because lately GW's been taking the ugliest photos possible of its models. Further I'm hoping the unaturalness of the poses is because they got a toddler to stick the kit together rather than it being sculpted in.

Anyways rant over

What do you guys think of the new models?

I already have quite a few of the metal GKTs and PAGKs. I'm not keen on mixing plastic and metal, so I'll probably skip the plastic models. That said, I'm not especially impressed with the latest painting style of the 'eavy metal team. The models may be better than they appear in photos. The proportions of the heads and limbs do seem off however. If I do get a Dread Knight I'm definitely not using the bare head terminator. Otherwise I think it is fine. The Storm Raven is a Winnebago with wings. I really hope Forge World helps us out there.

Am I the only one that didn't liked the new sculpts? The Termies look wonky, with big heads, and the characters look out of proportion or too warmachine-like. Maybe is just the painting style used by GW to display them, but, but... that's a good thing that I still have some metal termies.

The PAGKs look nice, since they are basically the same, with cool poses and better sculpts.

Like the DK, but it have some of the cartoony warmachine feel as well...

Oh well.

I thought that as well, but the model range looks fantastic when you see in person. The GW nearest to me has a full display cabnet fully painted of GKs and they looked mitghtly impressive, the Dreadknight is so much better when you have it in hand so much meatier and meaner looking then in the pics

GW Customer Service said the posting of Gideon Lorr on the web store was a mistake. :( Color me sad.

Overall, I find the new plastic Grey Knights to look nice. The only dislike I have from looking at the pictures is the look of the storm bolter. Having the barrel as a single solid rectangle with two holes does not proper to me. The old style with the appearance of two seperate barrels looked 'better'. Easy enough fix but it does mean extra work, cut a little 'v' between the two and done.

interesting, I purchased Gideon Lorr prior to it being taken down and it was charged to my card.... it said it was shipped (along with other models) i wonder if it will come or if they will just give me credit.... personally i want that mini so damn bad that i would pay twice the cost just to have it.

I think it's just poor pose choices by the team. The PAGK heads are tilted back, so they're much more prominent than we've seen before, same with the termies. The only real difference I can see between the termies, is that the plastic legs are a little thinner than the metal ones. I think some of it also has to do with the fact that there were only five static poses for the each choice, plus the Incinerator and Psycannon, so anything else looks odd. I for one don't like the new psycannon or flamer. Much prefer the metal models, and I'll probably be picking those up to fill out those choices.

I've seen them in person and still prefer the metal models.

As others have said they don't match up to the quality of the older models. Some features are better, ie the text in the armour, detail wise, but overall I don't think I would ever buy the plastic GKT except for arms.

Question:

I maybe wrong, as i haven't seen the model in person, but didn't Cortez used to have a different model? I have only seen him with his hammer over the shoulder, but on the GW site, he is holding it more downwards... Is possible to reposition him so easily, or did I miss something?

I really think that the new Termies look really nice. I especially like the heads in the 3rd picture from the site[1].

Some postures are awkward and that was probably done to reveal as much as possible of the model detail. When you assemble your own they'll most likely have better postures (the Apothecary really looks ok in my opinion).

Praise the Emperor! Hopefully it'll get here tomorrow then.
