Need some help for buying Blood Angels from scratch

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I was thinking I'd pick up 40k again, and build me a now Blood Donators force (yes, the name is a joke).

Problem is, my budget is a bit tight, so I was thinking of making an "as cheap as possible 1750 pts list".

So far I've figure I should buy:

The battle force and use them as:

10 man assault squad

10 man death company in rhino with bolters

1 x Terminator squad + black reach models off ebay for a full 10 man tactical terminator squad with heavy weaps

1 x Furioso kit for Libby Dread + a black reach dread made into death company dread (are there enough parts for this?)

And that's pretty much it. So far I 'd say it's around 1000 points, if not more, but I could also make D.C on jump pack,

but that does seem like a waste of points.

I was thinking I could buy a box of sang. guard. to make into various commanders and priests.

I could also buy a normal tac. squad and use as sternguard. But well... have you any more suggestions on a good combination of

money for points? The army doesn't have to be competative. Just a but of fun to throw around a table.

P.S

Do sang. priest actually have to be made out of apotechary models these days? It seems they actually don't have any of the other

wargear, just that chalice.

1 problem is the Black Reach dread and the pieces from the libby dread (mainly the front plate) are not the same size. I tried to do the same thing using leftover pieces to make my AOBR dreads look cooler. But a lot of the pieces do not work together. You should have no problem sticking say the blood talons on the AOBR Dread, but the DC dread sarcophagus won't fit without a lot of work with greenstuff/plasticard.

Lots of people make Sang Priests out of Sang Guard models, there is no reason you can't do that.

also blood chalieis just an item. you dont need to give them a narthesium. my main priest just has alot of the death company bits that have chalices on them...oh and of course plenty of white. and the death co box is really good for bits, as is the sanguard.just spread the bits appropriately. and if your wanting a rhino, always buy the razorback kit instead as it had good extras for barely any difference in price...

I was mainly concerned with the arms. I can live without the front plate. Probalby won't use the libby front plate for that either, as I don't really like it.

Just a shame the faq made bloody clear libby dread can't take frag cannon.

I think its a bigger shame the libby dread can't take Extra Armor

If all you want is the arms for turning AOBR dreads into Blood Talon dreads or frag cannon dreads, that works. I also put the Magna Grapple on an old metal Furioso (doesn't fit perfect, will require some green stuff to fill in gaps)

Yeah, I dunno how they rationalised that restraint. I'd say a 175 point dread need all the help it can get.

I would have loved to be to take both extra armor and frag cannon for two reasons:

1: Easier building

2: Frag Cannon would make up for the fact the Libby has no real way of handling infantry. Hell, it could even penetrate a

Land Raider with a bit of luck. Or blow up an entire sentinel or land speeder squadron.
