well i did it in the luna wolve colours because in my opinion the Sons of Horus are the start of the downfall of Horus. and because i like the legion symbol more than that of the Sons.

and above his right eye i painted a new moon. might be a bit wrong but because new moon is wel kinda all black i thought it would be nice to put only a small ciculair piece

Very Nice. I love it. If i may, i would love to see some squads. Here are the ones named in Horus Rising.

10 Cumpany, Luna Wolves, XVI Legion:

Rassek and his Terminator Squad.

1st, Veteran, Sergeant Xavyer Jubal and his 'Hellebore' Tactical Squad.

3rd, Sergeant Nero Vipus and his 'Locasta' Tactical Squad.

7th, Sergeant Udon and his 'Brakespur' Tactical Squad.

?th, Sergeant Talonus and his 'Pithraes' Squad.

?th, Sergeant Kairus an his 'Walkure' Squad.

7 other squads.

That would make a sick Pre heresy force.

On a kinda super nit- picky point. I think you have captured all the things we know about Loken's look except one small feature. Other then his trade mark ye 'ol Bolter and Chain sword, and his Mk 5 Power armour. The one identifying mark is on his bolter. pg 21 Horus Rising. "His weapon had a gash in the foregrip, the legacy of a greenskin's axe during the Ullanor, a cosmetic mark Loken had told the armourers not to finish out." Here is a picture i think shows the mark.

Lord Lorne Walkier, I think that picture you linked is none other than Nathaniel Garro of the Death Guard.

Actually, as I understand it, the Astartes in that picture is supposed to be Iacton Qruze.

BattleBrotherJohn: I believe that the crest comes from the Captain Sicarius miniature.

aapie014: A great miniature of Loken. I really like the fact that you have added loads of details on the miniature, including those that are often overlooked by others. For example the use of the Eye of Terra/Eye of Horus by the Luna Wolves after the Triumph of Ullanor.

The Luna Wolves are my favourite Legion and like you, they appeal to me far more than the Sons of Horus do. I'm looking forward to seeing your other takes on various characters.

If you you are after any specific information about the Luna Wolves, feel free to PM me and I'll try to help.

Great work!

You can indeed see the scraped badge of the Luna Wolves on his chest. That would make sense though either way it is very odd that they did an image of Luna Wolf considering the title of it (EDIT - I see that Garro is on the other part "Oath of Moment"). My guess is that the artwork was already produced and they said use it as it was relevant enough. Another thing I don't get it why they used Sons of Horus color schemes for the artwork for the first and third books but Luna Wolves for the second in between - why not use that image on the first?

On topic, the model looks very cool. The freehand is great. Can't wait to see more.

White is a tough color to paint from my understanding (mostly from comments I see made by more experienced painters than myself here), and though I have no experience in doing a whole mini in it, I might say your paint seems a little thick in spots. Perhaps more layers of more watered down white. Doing my Deathwing, not a pure white mind you, I have to do a few thin layers.

Well now that i have listend to this book i know for sure that the Astartes in that picture is /not/ supposed to be Iacton Qruze. I am pretty sure this picture was /not/ already produced. Seems it was created to depict a scene in the book.

Again though, the vast majority would not know what the mark on the bolt gun meant anyway.
