Created in 128.34M from Blood Angel gene-seed in the aftermath of Abbadons 4th Black Crusade and the sacking and wholesale slaughter of the Imperial Planets of the Perseus system during the Ulkarius rebellion, the Blood Hawks mission is to act as a patrol and guardian fleet for the largely dead but rich, ancient region of space 2000LY west of the Loki sector all the way west to the Eye of Terror, north to Mordian and south to Hydrophur. This region often acts as a staging ground for mutants, heretics and chaos adherents of all kinds, trapped between the heavy defences of the Cadian Gate to the galactic west and the SW home to the galactic east, not to mention the many Xeno threats indigenous to the area.Due to the nature of the area, and the relatively rich but sparsely seeded rare-element deposits, many fleets of Inquisitorial operatives, Archo-Tech expeditionary vessels and numberless Imperial trade routes must be closely guarded and any requested assistance given in a timely and ruthless manner. Thus have the Blood Hawks chapter served under ancient Imperial decree to serve and protect the agents of the Empire and where necessary purge the zone of the enemies of Man in all its forms. At times this has required brutal actions, even by Astartes standards, to quash rebellions before they spread from system to system, purge pirate fleets operating within this vast zone and even rooting out and destroying xeno heresy and most dangerous of all traitor Astartes themselves, whether acting as an independent Chapter as dictated in there ancient charter of rights and duty or in concert with other sanctioned Imperial bodies, the Blood Hawks have served the Imperium valiantly and with ruthless efficiency for over 7000 years.

The Chapter Master heads the Council of Ancients, which is responsible for overseeing all chapter level activity such as prioritising calls for help and co-ordinating the various fleets assests. It includes all Section Chiefs, such as the Chief Reclusiarch, Chief of the Librarium, Master of the Apothecarium, Master of the Forge, the First of the Black Guard and any currently activated Dreadnoughts in service at the time. The council is convened every 30 years aboard the Battle Barge "Wings of Empire".

The chapter is unusual in that it has 9 full battle companies each with its own number of initiates, due to the nature of the companies patrol and response roles with an additional veteran company comprised of specialist Terminator squads and several Black Guard squads - a force capable of fulfilling both Vanguard and Sternguard roles but with the particular role of hunting down and assassinating enemy leaders and members of note, such as psykers, spiritual leaders, rogue agents etc. These veterans operate with there own fleet assets and assigned to area of operation according to the highest level intelligence reports and in concert, but equal with, the local Company Masters command authority.

HY-1903-53.78 is the Imperial designation for the Blood Hawks homeworld, though they call it Spyros. It is a planet thought to have been originally colonised prior to the time of the Great Crusade, though when exactly that was is unclear. It is a barren and mountainous planet covered in deserts and ringed by a massive chain of mountains, and possesses two massive oceans teeming with deep water predatorial life and plentiful schools of fish . The planet itself is tectonically dormant and settled within a close orbit to its parent star, with most water locked into two massive oceans, making the coastal regions particularily valuable for settlement and fiercly fought over by the native tribes.

The fortress monastary is located deep within the densest peak of the largest mountain chain, and extends many kilometres underground, housing all the attendant and necesasry assets that an Astartes chapter would need, in addition to several temples and lodge houses of native design.

The plains and mountain regions are inhabited by primitive human populations that engage in shamanistic belief systems revolving around the creation myth of Sha'sa'qoth - a massive and blood stained Eagle made of adamantium that sits within the heart of the highest mountain and who awaits the return of the Sons of the Serpent.

It is said that at the dawn of time the terrifying God Sha'sa'qoth beat his wings and started the fires of creation in an ancient and cold universe, thus spinning the fabric of humanity from the burning flames and keeping the cold of the grave from his creations first heart beats. Along with the ones he called human, he also craeted a race of demi-gods and there chieftans in the guise of anthropomorphic entities similar to demons. The greatest of those chiefs - elevated to be first amongst equals by the love of the great Sha'sa'qoth himself, was the great serpent named Var'lo-q'athala (which means the betrayed heart). While Sha'sa'qoth retreated to his mountain and looked to teh stars and the daemons that dwelt beyond in order to protect His Sons he tasked Var'lo-q'athala with leading his creations beyond times veil and securing the sparks and coals from the Fire of Creation he had started at the genesis.

Var'lo-q'athala felt betrayed by his fathers distance, and through the guile and cunning as befits a god, he secured the loyalty of fully half his brothers and lead a decisive strike against the forces still loyal to Sha'sa'qoth. At this point 3 brothers were struck down, one killed and the rest seperated by so much time that they could not contribute to teh fight. Var'lo-q'athala wasted no time, and gathering his four closest brothers grew fat on the carnage wrought in his name, so much so that by the time they arrived at Sha'sa'qoth's realm they hardly resembled the glorious creations they originally were, but bathed in dark glory and swollen with arrogant pride challenged His divine mandate. The four brothers raced ahead of Var'lo-q'athala do do battle, but with the gaze of His eyes, the beat of His wings and the flaming destruction wrought from both they were repelled. While Sha'sa'qoth's attention was diverted by his sons broken and horrific forms, teh great Serpent leapt upon His back and in the subsequant battle broke His spirit, even as Sha'sa'qoth's rampage broke Var'lo-q'athala's body and cast his followers into the abyss to be eternally burnt in His divine love and judgment for there heresy.

So it is that Sha'sa'qoth rests in the heart of Spyros' mountain chain, only turning his gaze upon this realm to approve of the war trophies brought before him by his sons the Blood Hawks and to feast on the still living flesh of His heretic sons chained to the walls of His lair, for it is said that Sha'sa'qoth hunger for the flesh of traitors is as boundless as his compassion and love for his loyal children.

During M37, the governor of XXXX cast aside his allegiance to the Emperor in secret and set about with several other like-minded Imperial worlds to announce a secessionist territory. Understandably tension was high, with the fear of retribution always at the fore - but such actions proved absent. After 6 long yeas of delicate - and secret - negotiation and military preparation, the governors and septs of these worlds were finally ready to formalise there plans. On a date sacred to the population of the XXXX governors family, the rulers attended a ritual to sign the new political and economic charter of mutual assurance and support. At the height of the Independence celebrations, three full companies of Blood Hawks descended in flaming streaks amidst the assembled throng, instantly incinerated or crushing thousands and injuring hundreds more with the explosive opening of drop pods blast doors and ensuing charge of bolt-spewing Astartes warriors.

The red-clad terror ran through the crowd, firing at citizens and screaming chants of formalised hatred. Black-clad giants ran even faster, with the whirring of chain blade and bark of bolt-pistol driving the reality of terror into the populations skulls and burning the Emperors truth into the survivors souls.

The governor stood with his family and was joined by the ruling houses of the surrounding secessionist systems, looks of horror were exchanged as one of the fire-balls streaked toward the stage they were on. The impact killed most of them instantly, and the rest were oblitereated in the seconds following the pods arrival as a specialist death squad arrived. The black guard then murdered the remaining members of the houses before making contact with the fleet high above observable space.

"Lo'Shan, contact made, target negated. Forces due for extraction in 90 sol units".

The roar of the Thunderhawks was the last thing the survivors heard, and no deviation of the Imperial decree of any kind has been reported in over 3000 years.

okay, i put in the founding date.

Just trying to find out how far SW patrol from Fenris so i can claim the section roughly bordered by Mordian, Hydrofurur, Fenris and the eye itself as my patrol area. - DONE

Added 2 painter pics - Seargent of the Black Guard which is basically a specila weapons assasination squad (sterngaurd) and a tac squadbattle brother. These will be re-done at a later date and eventually replaced with a painted miniature in the colour scheme.

I will upload some more information about the BH and rework the origins section, as it feels too long and lacking in "realness".

Will expand on teh Q'Ran heresy (involving chaos agents in M41) and the Perseus sector massacres by Abaddons 4th and teh attending rebellions and heresies that threatened Mechanicus operations and archo-tech exploratory fleets, not to mention jeopordising imperial control of a large section of space bewteen the Eye and theMaelstrom.
