Joasht
There hasn't been much talk about these guys, which is fairly surprising given that they bring with them the interesting utility of moving 30" once per game. They have good 24" range firepower, and with such high mobility either way, can perform both a mobile harassment unit or, in a pinch, an assault unit. Admittedly they are a little costly, but I kinda see them as: 1) Assault Space Marines with a 8 point Force Weapon and some other rules in lieu of their meltaguns (I'm a BA player :X) 2) GKSS who paid 4 points per person for the 30" once-per-game teleport, since the price difference between a Tactical Marine and Assault Marine is usually 2 points. 3) Kind of, somewhat, more or less, a little bit, like Sanguinary Guard. I'm not a fan of the (IMO) overcosted Sanguinary Guard, but in a sense these guys fulfill a similar role. Yes, they have less attacks per person and no Artificer Armor, but can take more bodies, they have some pretty nice equipment options, and shoot well too, all for a significantly lower price per model. Edit: Disclaimer - Sanguinary Guard are not literally overpriced, if at all they are really cheap for their kit. Its just that I'm not a huge fan of paying so many points for single models that cost so much that don't have an Invul save. 4) 3rd Ed Assault Marines (they were 25 points each back then, and I still used them.....) A few thoughts running through my head: 1) Shooty death squad. 10 men, 2 Psycannons, psybolts. Basically use them like bikes, moving around shooting things, but with the option of going for melee if required. Could save the 30" move for last minute table capturing as HERO suggested, with the GK Grandmaster. 2) Assault squad. They are, after all, jump infantry. With the option to take Halberds and hammers, they can be pretty reliable but not necessarily cost-efficient, given the (IMO very) cost-efficient Halberd Purifiers. 3) Suicide squad. 5 men, 1 Incinerator. You could just take one or two five-man squads for some surgically-placed templates, or if you feel so inclined, you could take three of these squads (not difficult nor that expensive if you don't plan on using Stormravens) or just combat squad three ten-man squads of them into six squads to spread out the fiery love, and just teleport them in to burn things, before they inevitably get shot/charged to death while buying time for the rest of the army to arrive. By keeping them close to one another they aren't really "stranded", but rather, a decent number of guys right in the middle of the army. In a sense, not the best use for them, since thats five very expensive suicide models. Still, I have a burning, passionate hate for the Eldar and Tyranids, and S6 AP4 flamers do bad things to them.....(although the former does require the transports to be popped first, and AV12 is easy for a GK army) I'm sure there are many ways to use them, and theres just some part of me thats tingling with excitement thinking about the possibilities of having such a mobile unit with so many options available. Suggestions, ideas, opinions, thoughts etc are welcome. Thanks! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224940-inceptor-squads/ Share on other sites
Marmande
For 315 points, you get: -10 Knights -Psybolts -2 Psycannons -Master-crafted Daemonhammer on the Justicar And that's how I'll be running it. :) 16 S4 AP5 and 4 S7 Rending shots with a 36" threat range, +4 more when sitting on an objective because the Grandmaster I took made them scoring. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224940-inceptor-squads/#findComment-2691087 Share on other sites
Lord Sirrion
I'm definetly in love with these guys. A 30" move opens up limitless posibilites. I just wish their backpacks didn't look so silly. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224940-inceptor-squads/#findComment-2691145 Share on other sites

Joasht
Would be very easy to magnetize them though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224940-inceptor-squads/#findComment-2692288 Share on other sites
Chucku
I can get the big jump out of a Dreadknight as well, for cheaper. These guys just don't thrill me. If they had an additional attack, then okay, but otherwise, not really.
