Requiemnex
Wondering if the 20 point inquisitor is the best way to unlock the assassin or is it better to spend more points on a more useful unit? Inache
No need. Assassin's aren't linked to Inquisitors anymore. You can field one whatever your HQ is. Requiemnex
"Important note: An Officio Assassinorum Operative may only be chosen if an Inquisitor or Inquisitor Lord is also part of the force. Note that no more than one Officio Assassinorum Operative can be used in any force for any reason." From the witch hunters PDF.. In the Topic title, i specified witch hunters. Fredegar Kadere
Depends... If you are going to run an assassin you might as well make the Inquisitor worthwhile, but do not go overboard. The Callidus is certainly worth her points, the Vindicare and Eversor are hit and miss, and the Culexus requires an army to be built around him and that really shines when allied into IG armies. If you expect to go up against a psychic heavy army an Inquisitor Lord is a worthwhile unit to field just for the unlimited range Leadership 10 Psychic Hood. 1) Make it a mini-fire base with Heavy Bolter servitors or Plasma/Grenade Veteran Guardsmen and Bolter Acolytes and the Lord with a Bolter-Stake Crossbow. 2) Make it a counter assault unit with Crusaders and Mancatcher Acolytes and the Lord with Power Weapon. If you expect to go up against non-psyker armies then the elite Inquisitor without retinue geared out to accompany one of your other squads would work. A Power Weapon and pistol rounds out a nice melee punch from a squad. Just remember that a joined Inquisitor to a Sister unit prevents it from using Acts of Faith so it works better if you are running Storm Troopers. Otherwise equip the elite Inquisitor the same way as you would the Inquisitor Lord, minus the Hood. My two cents. I am just wondering if it is worth it to have an extra 20pts and the extra kill point she presents. Its np, i have not read the entire subject before myself  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224964-good-inquisitor-to-unlock-assassins/#findComment-2691488 Share on other sites
DinoDoc
I'd go with something like this: Elite Inquisitor (Boltgun) Retinue: 3 Heavy Bolter Gun Servitors, 1 Acolyte (Carapace Armor, Boltgun), 2 Chirurgeons 136pts Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/224964-good-inquisitor-to-unlock-assassins/#findComment-2691622 Share on other sites
