The hammer counts as a thunderhammer correct? Does it still strike at initiative? If so wouldn't that be a decent choice considering that the NKD is only Int 4 and going up against other MC's and beasties that normally go at Int 5 could see the NDK dead by the second round of combat, where the hammer would allow it to go before said monstrosity in the second round of combat.

Aye, for the Dreadknight, the hammer strikes at initiative. However, against most MCs you'd just use the force weapon to inflict Instant Death.

I can't rightly remember off the top of my head : do 'nids still gain immunity from instant-death effects if they're within synapse range? I know that was true in the book prior to this one, but I haven't read over the new one in almost a year. Speculating on that, it could be a bit of a pinch for the NDK or any other model with a nemesis weapon in that case.

Nope, that's gone. I not entirely sure, but I think Eternal Warrior completely disappeared from 'Nids in 5E. Of course, some of the big creatures still have Shadow in the Warp, which can put a dent in your psychic success rate.

Actually it comes with 2 gun bodies and 3 weapon fits.

Aye, I meant it comes with a Heavy Incinerator, and one gun body for either ther Gatling Psilencer or the Heavy Psycannon. So you can't make a Dreadknight with both a Heavy Psycannon and a Gatling Psilencer from 1 kit, correct?

Nope, 2 generic bodies, 3 ranged weapons...............

Just had the blue ink wash!

I am going to run mine to fill a major weakness of my lists, horde control and cover save models. I'm running a Draigo with Psycannon Paladins list with three NDKs(only two with teleporters though all will have HIs and HPs)

NDK + Personal Teleporter + Heavy Incinerator + Heavy Psycannon. It is expensive, but can deal an unprecedented amount of damage to hordes.

With 5 S10 MC attacks on the charge he can take out any vehicle that hasn't moved over 6" with ease. The two templates allow him to devastate just about any infantry unit, even reducing an ork mob down to reasonable(breakable) size without assistance. In CC, he can take most enemies. And I still have the option to not fire the Heavy Psycannon if I must take out lightly armored stealth units.

I plan on ShuntScouting them forward either within T1 striking distance of High priority targets(LRs, Hive Tyrants, MCs, Preds, Devastators, and especially VINDICATORS!). If I won't have first turn I will ShuntScout them within harassing distance, yet out of assault range, of infantry mobs, especially against any horde style army.

In objective games I will consider making as many as possible scoring, saving the shunt for late game objective denial, and using them to devastate infantry before advancing towards CC with high priority targets.

The scorched earth NDK seems the way to make a Draigo Paladin list viable in semi competitive play.

My 2cents for what its worth.

about the force weapons and eternal warrior, i didnt think that the force weapons inflicted instant death, i just thougth it said in the rulebook that if the test was passed, then the model was 'removed from play'. Am i missing something, or do the FW ignore eternal warrior? have they changed it for this codex?

The force weapons do not ignore eternal warrior. Though daemonbane forces a leadership test for daemons or psykers when failed removed them from play. So ~8% chance to drop a daemon via leadership.
