Joasht
I'm thinking of adding some Psyfle (heh, funny name) Dreads (non-venerable) to my GK army, but I was wondering what you guys thought about the possible model options for the body. Just some thoughts: 1) Normal Dread PROs: Doesn't look venerable (again, I'm going for normal non-venerable dreads), plastic, decently priced. CONs: Kinda looks really run-of-the-mill 2) Venerable Dread PROs: Looks awesome, plastic, decently priced. CONs: Looks venerable. I don't think anyone would find fault with me for saying they aren't venerable, but sometimes you'll never know.... 3) GK Dread (Forgeworld) PROs: Its a GK dread. CONs: A tad more expensive, resin (so its harder to work with, a little more toxic, etc), and, frankly, looks a little weird next to the new Venerable Dread. The "head" size is so much bigger on the FW model. Also kinda looks venerable. 4) BA Dread PROs: Has a psychic hood chassis with a (thankfully) separate "Librarian head", plastic, decently priced. CONs: Might require minor detail removal and changing. Also looks venerable. 5) Black Reach Dread PROs: Plastic, really cheap. CONs: Looks dull, in fact, uglier in my opinion, as I've grown up with the smoke stacks being visible from the front. Also a little more difficult to repose. Thoughts? Thanks all! EDIT: Well, in a sense, 7) Mix and match! I could easily salvage one of my old Space Marine Dreads, use that Ironclad thats been sitting unassembled in my cupboard for a while, and just go out and buy like, one Ven Dread. So I'll have three very distinct looking Dreads, that are all exactly the same thing on the table XD PRO: Cheap. I already have two spare Dreads. CON: .....not very uniform. JamesI
I'd go with the Venerable or the Furioso dreads. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225084-opinions-on-which-dreadnought-to-use-for-the-grey-knights/#findComment-2693299 Share on other sites
winterdyne
I'd go with the FW one. They're nice models - challenging but fun to build. You'll learn a lot doing it if you've never done a resin kit before - just don't rush it and do things 'right'. Joasht
I've done resin before, but its just so troublesome :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225084-opinions-on-which-dreadnought-to-use-for-the-grey-knights/#findComment-2693355 Share on other sites
Zincite
Assuming that the ForgeWorld one you was talking about was this one ... What about This? Makes it look a bit different, while still not quite making it 'venerable'. Just my thought. Failing that I'd go Furioso. Brother Valerius
The first kit you linked brings something to mind... I like the body a lot, but hate the way the mk IV feet look. Would it be reasonably possible to swap them with a pair of standard dread feet, or put the top half on the entire lower half of a standard dread? The latter option is kind of a waste since it involves throwing out half of a FW kit, but those stupid feet are so ugly... chromedog
Yes, you can swap them out with regular dread feet (or even use a regular dread feet base). Joasht
The sarcophagus-only bit looks kinda messy to me haha. Theres a surprising amount of votes for the Furioso, I never expected that to be honest! Persephone 66
I'd say either the Furioso or the FW. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225084-opinions-on-which-dreadnought-to-use-for-the-grey-knights/#findComment-2694194 Share on other sites

The work you have to do to file down BA iconography aside, the Furioso is a really sweet dread. I'd be tempted by it.
