Psychic Barrage

So, the new codex states that for the Psychic Barrage power, the S goes up by one and the AP goes down by one for each psyker in the henchman unit (beyond the first). I had been imagining a S14 version of this power with 12 psykers in the squad, but a friend felt that there is a general rule which states that S may not increase above 10. I found a rule at the beginning of the BRB which applies to units (hence why a Dreadnought is S10, because the DCCW double's the Dreadnought's S), but it doesn't seem to apply to the S of a psychic power. Is there such a rule? Because while a 12-psyker henchman squad may not be the most competitive thing ever, it sure would be fun!

It's the basic rule that no stat goes above 10 other than AV. So like a vehicle ramming that is going ridiculously fast can never get above S10 even if in theory it could go higher.

It's one of those design things that I guess they felt they had covered in the BRB but then didn't seem to cover all angles when codexes started coming out.

Well, if it's the same basic rule I found, it specifically is talking about the statline of a unit (and only ever talks about the stats of "models", in fact). It's a bit unclear if that applies to anything that has a stat, such as a weapon or psychic power.

Q: Can a ramming vehicleʼs Strength go above 10? (p69)

A: No, only a vehicleʼs Armour Value makes exception to

the ʻMaximum 10ʼ rule for characteristics.

This is what I'm on about. Although they seem to be on about basic stat lines in the BRB and aren't exactly consistent.

I think the idea is that it only goes up to 10 but they didn't really say that.

For a 10" blast and strength D, I'd hope you'd need a few more than 12. Otherwise that's a 120 point unit capible of blowing most armies to bits... Maybe if we start talking about 50 it sounds a bit more ballanced. Just good luck finding 50 different psyker models to stop your unit from looking like it went through a cloning machine. Oh and better hope you don't peril...
