For a first army this is quite impressive , how long has it taken you to get all these done?

A few comments , The GW washes are your friend! they will make a huge difference on you minis , especially the sanguard /chappy and any red minis (like astorath)

have a go with them on a few test minis , youll end up loving them , and it will make all these POP so much more ,

keep it up!

So, I'm guessing they're not crooks either (har)?

I second the wash idea. Never used them myself, but then again, my guys are mostly black. And I'm not a very good painter.

I do like your Storm Raven, very clean and neat. If it's for the Death Company though, wouldn't some red crosses be appropriate?

Barry: I would say I have painted them in a total of 2 weeks with a couple breaks in that time. My eyes were getting burned out. My roommate has washes and I am going to wait until he paints something for his army and test my washing skills out on his stuff. I have 10 man attack squad, and 15 tac squad guys that are painted just didnt have room to put them in the original post. I repainted the terminators to match the rest of my army and vehicles.

Norm: I had the storm raven red at first and decided that it would look better with the rest of my army if it were black. I was very happy with how it turned out...altho I am still trying to tweek some things with out over painting. The DC are pretty much painted as they looked on the box. They were the second unit I put together and wasnt very confident in my painting. I would rather have them look like everyone elses versus painting them like poo.

Thanks to both of you for giving me some input...I wasnt sure I would get a reply from anyone or if I did...get a good reply at that.

p.s. as for the crooks...they have been a couple times. Poor eldar didnt see it coming. <_<

Yeah, third on the washes. You have a great base, and with some Badab Black or Devlan Mud on those bad boys, you will have one heck of an army there. Washes are really easy. I use a tank Brush, just dip it in the wash, and apply liberally all over the model. let it sit for a lil bit, then take a standard brush or equivalent and use it to collect some of the excesses in the recesses, mostly eliminate the pooling. Then let it dry and VOILA!! you is done! The Badab Black is a -you guessed it- black wash, and will make your models have a dark tone, which i used on my Blood Angels here, whereas the Devlan Mud has a brown tint to it, which i used on my Plague Marines here. Here is a before/after wash on my Plagues. Hope this helps!

I am going to give washing a try. I am going to..."borrow" one of my roommates models and paint it gold and see how I like it with a wash on it. I cant commit one of my own models without knowing how I am going to like it. I like a lot of shine to my army. Oh and grizz...I loved your Storm Raven.
