Angels on Parade

Yesterday, my LGS hosted a practice Adepticon team tourney event. My mate and I took best painted (flatplanet who doesn't post here much) and also tied for 2nd place overall. Here's some pics I took of the coalition force:

Special shout out to Warboss John whom we played during the second session. It was great to play you guys and would welcome any other opportunities in the future!

Now... on to the main event. Only two weeks of waiting left.

Cheers, OMG

Is that a lucius pattern drop pod in the army? Did you actually use it as that or just a normal drop pod?

The army is pretty awesome looking, could you post the army list? I would like to see what you took to get 2nd place.

Especially like the ones that are half red half black.

It was a Lucious pattern Drop Pod, and was used as such to chew through my Jumpack Assault Squad ;) :D

Very Fun Game, OMG handed my my one loss at the Tourney, otherwise i thought pure 100% DoA Jumpers did great! :D

Awesome job OMG!! Just saw now that the rules allow for an IA lucius option! Sick.

As Warboss John testified first hand - yes, that's a Lucius DP. The Adepticon rules allow for one member of the 4-man team to chose one Apoc or IA unit (with other restrictions of course). Here's the list I used. Not sure my mates list but you can pretty well tell from the models in the pics.

Reclusiarch

Death Company x8 w/power fist

Rhino

Death Company Dread w/talons

Lucius Drop Pod

Tactical Squad x10, melta & multi-melta

Drop Pod

Baal Pred with Assault Cannons

Pred with Autocannon & Las Sponsons

Yeah, funny how you leave out how long that dread lasted after its initial assault. A: Not long.

As stated, great game and I look forward to another in the near future!

Awesome job OMG!! So relieved Lucius pattern pods wont be able to be used in the Adepticon team tourney - that would be all kinds of sick.

Reread your Adepticon rules Mort. Expect all kinds of sick with this rule in play.

Congrats on the second place and the best painted!

To be clear, we actually didn't take second place. The top score was 58 battle points for the overall winner. Then for 2nd place, there were two of us with 52 battle points. The other team took the title; they had us on tie breakers; commander's heads & the use of command tokens. - lessons learned.

Still, I'm very pleased with the results.

Cheers gents, -OMG

I have to ask, does your mate's Baal Pred use magnetized sponsons?

I’m not sure actually. In my case, I just don’t glue them down. In the event that they don’t wedge in tight enough, I’ll magnetize them like I did the doors on the big drop pod. Fairly easy to pull off and well worth it when it comes time to update your army.

How did you find the Lucius Pod?Ive been wanting to get one for a while but im not sure its really worthwhile? Advice?

Actually the Lucius Pod works so well with BA Dreads it can make you feel dirty using it. Most players don’t know how to anticipate it and quite frankly some army builds are just particularly vulnerable.

My first list only ran with one Pod and the Drop Pod Assault rule would at times nerf your deployment. If there were no ideal targets you could easily find yourself in a “throw-away” position. With the inclusion of another pod + a little luck, you might not get the dread to come down till turn 2 or 3. By then, your shooting should crack open some hapless transports or enemy reserves will have brought some vulnerable targets into the kill zone.

From there it’s really fire & forget. Just don’t waste the opportunity with targets that have a fair shot at killing the dread. Let it happily mow through soft units; the only fear being killing them off too effectively and leaving it vulnerable to enemy shooting. At times, that’s still worth the sacrifice but you need to place each game as it comes.

Have fun with it. Cheers, -OMG

Thanks for the picture OMG. Wow man, you went to town on that guy. That is my favorite Chaplin model too, he looks great surrounds by all the new DC models :)

He looks like he could be your high Chaplin hands down, I don't know what you would do if you did an Astorath model. It's good to see you still working on them (BA) and not those runny nose nurgle guys :P

Take it easy :)

I actually did a minor conversion to represent Astorath aka the Hero Chaplain Arrassmus, like so:

But I never drift too far from my favorite flavor of Chaos. Fear the fell return of the Chaos Legions!
