Techmarine Harkus
I've decided on a sort of TES:Oblivion style base. By which I mean, dark grey (painted sand) with red static grass (Galeforce 9's dead grass inked red) and the occasional skull and maybe some lava. I was contemplating a ruined imperial road/street kind of thing, but then I decided I wanted it to look like they were taking the fight to the enemy. The red of the grass will help add more color to the models as well, which have rather a lot of metalic otherwise. Care to share how you did it? I really like how the lava seems to glow. bearden441
I would also like to know the specific paint scheme you used. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225280-grey-knight-bases/page/2/#findComment-2698852 Share on other sites
Souba
it was made pretty easily. first paint your lava traits with thick lines of mechrite red, then take over another layer blood red, leave some mechrite red on the sides so it looks a little bit crusted on the sides... like cooled off. after that follow a thinner line on the blood red with blazing orange.. after that another line with a 3:2 mix from blazing orange and bad moon yellow. as finishing touch just add some little really thin and fine lines of bad moon yellow inside for improved heat effects. finished. :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225280-grey-knight-bases/page/2/#findComment-2699220 Share on other sites
Calvinus
The lava base looks great! I was thinking of doing lava bases for all of mine, ordering at least some since I don't have a huge amount of time for sculpting my own but I still want great bases. I think someone here has already brought up Dark Art Miniatures. I have never done business with them but they seem to have a great reputation. There's just so many possibilities with these guys, it's crazy. I don't think you can really truly go wrong with a theme here. @Souba: The paint scheme for the lava sounds so simple and looks amazing. Thanks for sharing. You have helped inspire at least one more army of grey knights out there to be lava-based!! yowsaman
these are the bases i made for my terminators that i now own and are repainting a bit. i tried to give the stones a temple look and hope that it kinda worked. i ordered some bases from scibor also and some temple ruin stones for my large bases (dreadknight, stormraven). i'm not going to use the lave bases or deamon bases caus i allready use them for my salamander army :) http://i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu339/yowsaman/DSCF0444.jpg http://i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu339/yowsaman/DSCF0445.jpg http://i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu339/yowsaman/DSCF0443.jpg http://i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu339/yowsaman/DSCF0442.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225280-grey-knight-bases/page/2/#findComment-2699355 Share on other sites
