so guys seeing how many different HQs people include in their lists how do you run yours? at what points level.

I generally play 1500 and these are my setups

Wolf Lord

+wolf claw

+stormshield

+Thunderwolf

not to bad on points and it pretty effective at running around

Runepriest- no gear at all, this is my cheap choice when i just want to fill the slot

Wolf Priest- again no gear this guy will generally get thrown with a unit of grey hunters if i decide to be assaulty

and i have never used a battle leader i always used the points for a wolf lord

so what do u guys do?

I do something similar, my favorite hq is my harald deathwolf with

Frost blade

Storm shield

Thunderwolf

Warrior born or bear

Otherwise I'll throw down rune priests with rune mastery and not much else.

As soon as I finish my ragnar he'll definitely get more play. My logan has hit the table once for apoc and njal hasn't seen any use yet

no warriorborn for me, its not useful on a runepriest which is all i take usually ( i love jaws ok....)

even then i find the odds that i dont either kill enemy or make them flee in turn 1 of a combat very slim if ive killed enough models to make warrior born worth it

Why do you guys use Warrior Born? Do any units last long enough to give him additional attacks in subsequent rounds?

It's fantastic, but far too situational seeing as it only lasts for the next combat phase and then resets. You have to ensure you get multi-assaults so that you can wipe out one unit and still be in combat. That way you can then be in combat for the next turn. Then you've got a truckload of attacks. But generally it's not worth it, mainly because a single power fist can still mess up your day. Unless you're on a thunderwolf, that is. On a thunderwolf you've got the toughness to survive most power fist attacks. Of course, against the types of characters that your wolf lord would (in fluff-reality) most certainly seek out you'd still be screwed (demon princes, people with force weapons and so forth). But at a rank and file killer, there are few like him.

On a thunderwolf, though, I'm always tempted to get saga of the bast hunter and WC/SS. He'll eat his way through most monsters before they can have at him.

Saga of the bear, though, remains (for me) the best saga there is simply because it means your hero will stick around much longer.
