HB66
I am reading my first Inquisition BL book, The Inquisition War by Ian Watson, ive always been a die hard spacemarine / imerium guy, and have read tons of space marine books and imperial guard ones as well, i love the fluff. These Inquisiton ones though are AWESOME!!!! there so different from the typical shoot em up, battle, cut and slice of the other books. The mystery, intrigue and story lines are great. I cant believe i didnt pick up one of these sooner. I just went out and bought the Eisenhorn Omnibus cause i like the one im reading so much. I am totally gonna start a GK army now with an Inquisitor leading my mob, anyone have any more BL book titles that they would suggest? Magnus Thane
The Eisenhorn omnibus is a must-read if you're into the Inquisition. The Ravenor one too probably (though I have it, I have yet to read it) If you love the Inquisition, the new codex I believe will allow you to play a pure or almost pure Inquisition force though. Or balanced, depending on what you go for. The Grey Knights omnibus was a fun read too (bar perhaps the last novel in that trilogy), pick it up if the Ordo Malleus side of things is your 'thing'. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225339-new-to-the-inquisition/#findComment-2696602 Share on other sites
HB66
cool thanks, yeah i saw the Ravenor at the book store to, what initially peaked my interest to the inquisition was the GK that were in the Ultra Marines book, The Killing Ground. Of course ive always known about GK and the Inwuisition....they just never really got me excited so i didnt look into them at depth at all. all ready got the GK codex on pre-order :) just the idea of making all these cool henchmen with the appropriate fluff to back them sounds like a ton of fun. and the DreadKnight is now my favorite model in the GW line. ive been playn for over 15yrs and man is it cool. hmk17
Then you might want to check out the Grey Knights Omnibus by Ben Counter. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225339-new-to-the-inquisition/#findComment-2696724 Share on other sites
Sothalor
I would definitely recommend the Ravenor series. It's not your "typical" 40K story set on the front lines, but personally I don't mind that at all, I rather enjoy it more. The series is strongly centered around its characters (Ravenor and his core warband) and does a really good job of showing the human costs and burdens they bear as agents of the Inquisition. Magnus Thane
I'd advise you to read Eisenhorn before reading Ravenor the two kinda tie into each other and I believe it's usually best to start with big E. Fredegar Kadere
Sandy Mitchell's two books, Scourge the Heretic and Innocence Proves Nothing are worth a read. The third in the series is to be released later this year. It concentrates more on an Inquisitor's acolytes who are left to discover the cause of certain events that are amiss in the Scintilla system. Yup, read all the mentioned except Ravenor, and can really recommend Mitchell´s books! Not to mention Eisenhorn. Irbis
Ciaphas Cain books, these that don't concentrate on the guard, have my most favourite Inquisitor in WH40K, and a lot of behind-the-scenes Inquisitorial work. Pick first Cain book, it's pretty Inquisition-heavy, while giving you a taste what Cain really is about.
