Massaen
If its venerable then the MM is worth it - otherwise i would say TL Auto or single AC with psybolts is the way to go... Cmdr Shepard
I standard Dreadnought with either MM or AC, and DCCW will be well worth it, especially against Necrons. I find it useful against most armies, if only to tie up a second squad while the other contents (usually GKT for me) targets another squad. Reinforced Aegis on the move can be handy also. I tend to use psybolt Dread as fire support platform but against Necron the DCCW sound very promising. Very few Necron models can penetrate Dreads' armour: just keep our walker away from them and the other will have to suffer his attacks without any chance of retaliation. I'm thinking about heavy destroyers. Even though you don't kill/sweep them, youprevent them from shooting at your units. If its venerable then the MM is worth it - otherwise i would say TL Auto or single AC with psybolts is the way to go... The real problem with Venerable is its cost: Every time I always find a better way to spend the 60 pts and I deploy a standard dread. It's sad because Venerable rule is very interesting.... Massaen
I agree... but back to the raven Has anyone tried the summoning with the SR yet (with the appropriate upgrade of course) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225392-flight-of-the-stormraven/page/4/#findComment-2750235 Share on other sites
Red Lost Soldier
Until the FAQ the Summoning to work with Teleport Homers, I'd not risking it personally. I favor the MM myself ... at least when on a Ven dread. BS 5 FTW! But just as important is the mobile Reinforced Aegis that you mention. Shutting down psykers is so very important these days. Do you think a venerable is worth its cost compared to a standard one? I'd really like to deploy a walker with "Venerabl" rule and BS5 but I'm always unsure if investing 60 points in a sort of upgrade from the dread. What's your opinion? I never think making a dread venerable is necessary, but it is nearly always an improvement worth the points, IMHO. Now, for me, one of the reasons I am often taking a stock Venerable Dreadnought to hang on my Stormraven is because I'm out of Heavy slots. There's no other way for me to get a dread there unless it's Venerable! <_< So managing force org slots is actually an important consideration as to whether you "need" one or not.
