henrywalker
I was just thinking. quite a few chapters end up being wiped out, killed, falling to chaos what have you. it seems odd that there wouldn't be at least 1 or 2 survivors even if they are near death. what happens to these dregs? I figure that these broken bodies of astartes would be taken to mars and put in stasis till they could be encased in dreadnaughts. I know that this is a pathetic effort but i'd love a chapter of dreads. the codex would contain only dreads, techmarines, stormravens (transport) servitors and similar stuff some rule they might use: maybe the dreadnaughts go mad with rage. on a roll of a 6 at the beginning of the game the dreadnaugthts profile changes to be a monstrous creature? anyway, what does anyone think? and ideas for rules names colors etc? i thought that one shoulder or kneepad or something could keep the original colors of the dreadnaught the codex would contain only dreads, techmarines, stormravens (transport) servitors and similar stuff Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225454-chapter-of-the-ancients/ Share on other sites
Arkangilos
Interesting idea, but I do not think it would happen. They would probably merge the survivors with another chapter... However... lets say by chance they DO do that, It would probably be called "Imperial Dread Keepers" and would probably only consist of a company. They would probably be assigned to Rogue Traitors as protection units, and so I would say pik some Imperial Naval colors, or colors you would see with rogue traitors. Again, this is probably an impossibility, but a good, "What if." These would be healed and send to Deathwatch or given Emperor's mercy. Dread chasis like TDA is very rare piece of SM equipment. Ecritter
I have to agree, Dreads (like TDA) are the rare of the rare and therefore must be earned. They are not given to a marine simply for surviving where his brothers did not. Arkangilos
Unless they were great heroes, but I agree with them, they would still be sent to the Death Watch. (Death Watch Dreads, Xenos be warned!) Ferrata
If you wanted to collect a Dreadnought-only force, you could do so by the fluff. You could just say that it was the defence of Blah that the Blah marines did (a normal codex chapter) that happened only to consist of the chapter's dreadnoguhts (for whatever reason) :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225454-chapter-of-the-ancients/#findComment-2699157 Share on other sites
