HERO
I'm looking at the PAGK sprue and there's 5 Interceptor backpacks and 5 normal backpacks. Looks like I need to magnetize these badboys to keep it versatile. I normally get my stuff from here: http://www.kjmagnetics.com/ But I'm unsure of the size. Help? Vindicatus
I buy this for my studio, actually, and KJ's is awesome. I usually got for 'as small as possible', since ND type magnets are redonkulously powerful, even at that size. These and these are what I usually use for my miniatures, and slightly bigger ones for vehicles if it's required. HERO
Which ones do you use? I noticed both N42 and N52 grades in there. Which ones are a good fit for the Terminator Psycannon/Incinerator swap and for PAGK backpacks? bearden441
HERO - The D101-N52 magnets are very small... when I say small I mean I picked up 200 of them to make my entire army modular. They fit perfectly in the wrist of a Space Marine model so that you can swap out halberds, swords, falchions, etc... with ease. I would recommend these for backpacks if you do not want to file off the nub on the back armor plate completely, as the nub and the hole it goes into is deeper than the magnet itself (I would say it is probably about 1/16" to 1/8" thick. If you wanted to drill a hole in the back plate and widen the hole in the backpack I would go with the D21 (I have used these to mount all the weapons on Tau Battlesuits). EDIT - For terminator weapons two D101-N52 could work side by side, but as I have not seen the Termi arms side by side the magnets I can not truly comment on that. HERO
How noticeable is the N42 vs. 52? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225585-which-magnets-should-i-get/#findComment-2700399 Share on other sites
Vindicatus
The N portion of it determines the quality of the magnet and how powerful it is..You want the D-number. D101 is 1/16" dia. x 1/32" thick..which is small. Redonkulsly small. If you drill it out or sand it down a bit, you can fit two pieces together and never know it's there. D201 is 1/8" dia. x 1/32" thick..slightly bigger around, and better for like sponson mounts and the occasional wrist-swap for a weapon, depending on how you mount it or GS around it. Cool, thanks for the D numbers, but have you tried the N52 strength magnets vs. the 42? f74
One of my ghost knights. Using 3mm x 1mm N40 Neo magnets Small enough to go into a Grey Knights hand! The magnets at the wrist joint http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn190/stephenfletcher69/haha.jpg Not the strongest but they don't fall off. You can pick them up by the weapons. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn190/stephenfletcher69/fdgdf.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225585-which-magnets-should-i-get/#findComment-2700464 Share on other sites
ToI
I'm definitely glad that I didn't have to ask this question myself. Now I can order magnets for my order and have them when I pick up the models...thank god for early ordering... also, I love the magnetized Ghost Termies Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225585-which-magnets-should-i-get/#findComment-2700639 Share on other sites
