Chucku
Crusaders look pretty interesting. WS 5, power weapon & 3++ save for 15 pts. Only 1 attack and S3/T3 on the flip side. Still, they might make an interesting screening unit. There are only 2 models now available. Any ideas on making good proxies? Fantasy has several units that have swords (or other weapons) and shields, so there are some proxy options there. Freman Bloodglaive
Chaos Warriors (ironically enough). Throw in an Inquistor with hammerhand to bump the unit up to strength 4 (5 for any deathcult assassins). Crusaders don't kill much, but they're fairly good and not dying outright. DCA are good for killing stuff, the Inquisitor makes for great fun, at least until he dies with his 3+ armour save. Joasht
Chaos Warriors (ironically enough). Chaos Warriors are pretty big though, I'm not entirely certain if its a good idea to use their models to represent the guardsman statline that the Crusaders have. Even in fantasy, Chaos Warriors have the stats of a veteran space marine... Godhead
I was thinking of running 5 dca, 2x crusaders, and 4x arco flags with coteaz in a stormraven. Since the dca have two power weapons, they in effect have 3 attacks, so 4 on the charge, is it worth running arco flag who have 5 attacks on the charge, or just run a full compliment of DCA? ValourousHeart
I don't really like what they did to the arcos in the new codex. They lost their extra movement, 2 points of T, their 4++, and their PWs. They gained +1 S, FNP and now have a set number of attacks instead of the random version before... but at less than half the cost as before. Over all I think that both units were priced right for what you get... you just get a whole lot less now. It is just too easy to eliminate FNP on a T3 model... and then your model just dies. Sure they will rock vs. Tau, but who doesn't. Here is hoping that Sisters get a proper Arco unit. I am thinking that for now DCA are the best use of my old arco models... what do you guys think? I am planning to run Crusaders as my Arbites... Riot Suppression Squads. Any recommendations for good baton / maul / club weapons. I know I could just use paper clips and green stuff blobs on the end... but looking for something... well... more. Any suggestions? Godhead
I think ork bikers have a good looking maul on the sprue. I am not sure how it matches up size wise though. I'll have to check it out tomorrow and compare. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225592-how-about-crusaders/#findComment-2700685 Share on other sites

In a sense fluff-wise I think their stats seem more "correct" this time around though. All the toughness in the world doesn't help a human body when it gets hit by a Lascannon, and it shouldn't unless they have ....plot armor, I guess is a decent term for it  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225592-how-about-crusaders/#findComment-2700746 Share on other sites

There are a few Empire sets that have decent and should be similar or same size clubs. I know the Free Company and the Flaggies have some neat ones. Don't know if you are looking for a full model, but the Necromunda range has a neat Arbite with Riot Shield and a club. Any suggestions? I was thinking of doing the same thing. I'm going to use square cut plasticard and warp them into shape with my heat gun. I've cast some Arbites insignias and will glue those on to them. I use the space marine power axes with the blades cut off to mimic power mauls. I can show you some pics if you want.
