paladins and termies

Looking at the pics and sprues available on the GW site, it looks like the box has enough mini back banners to stick on every guy you can make. That appears to be the de facto method to differentiate them currently.

If that's not enough, I suppose you could always use whatever spare bits you've got to jazz them up even further.

I can also see going with a subtly different paint scheme for the armor itself and/or the heraldry shields.

Also, looking at the pics, it appears that the helmets of the Paladins are slightly different compared with the stock Termie helms. The Paladin ones are more upswept in the nose area, where the Termie ones are flat. (although I think the Paladin helms are uglier)

In White Dwarf they show all of the bits that come with both the Terminators and the Basic Knights. The difference bit wise between the Paladins and the Terminators is the Tilt plates/shields and the helmets.

There are four sets of shields shown. The first set are bare shields, the next set are the Paladin set [more ornate then the rest], the third has swords in the middle and the last has skulls in the middle.

When it comes to the helms I can't really tell a difference. There are three rows of heads. The first row is the Apothecary and the bare heads. The next one are the basic Terminator helms, and the last row are the Paladin one. Nothing else is labeled as being Paladin only.

Hope that helps.

When I make my guys, I am going to have some models pull dual duty. Sometimes they'll be Paladins, sometimes regular Terminators. Looks like my only option is to have different shoulder shields for each squad and be very very clear about which squad is going to be Paladins during a game.

That's exactly what I am doing. I'm not going to spend the time modeling and painting a GK Terminator squad and be told that they can only count as that. I'm planning on making all of my models more ornate and specify which ones (by squad designation) are paladins and which ones are terminators.
