Dremen
I use gradual layers of mixed DA Green with either Chaos Black or skull white to gradually build up the color I Like. You dont need to use inks but the end result will be a different finish or tone to the models themselves. Since you've decided that Inks arent your thing, or assuming you have, try a 50/50 mix of DA Green with Chaos Black, leave the recesses and do a straight up coat of DA Green and then highlight with either a DAG/Skull mix or a lgihter green. Just thoughts. Good luck. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225769-dark-angels-quick-paint/#findComment-2702492 Share on other sites
Grand Master Belial
Yup, mixing is the way to go to maintain that Dark Green look. I used Bleached bone instead of skull white. I used snot green as a highlight in the past. If you are worried about a shiny wash then try using watered down paints as your wash. They do really well and there is the shoe shine method as well. Get a bottle of black liquid shoe shine (usually a self contained bottle), dab your mini with shoe shine and then dab off with a towel. Instant shading. I was told this was how they added definition when they photographed the unpainted minis for the back catalog section of the old White Dwarfs. Crap, dated myself there. The Shadow Guard
There are a fewtechniques in the Master of the Forge section of my website, in particular the "Lazy Painter's Guide" .. might be useful. Tanhausen
Better if you post a pic :) Cloth, as most surfaces, you have to go from dark (brown) to clear (bleached bone or white), with thinned down paints and layering. Hope it helps! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225769-dark-angels-quick-paint/#findComment-2707527 Share on other sites
