Emperors Immortals
Hello fellow denizens of the fang! I currently run a BA and an Ultra army, both have JP assault squads and i find both to be very reliable and useful. Since im reinvigorating my SW force, ive decided to include a 10 wolf strong pack of SC, but im a little anxious about how usful they are. Personally i think the extra attacks are better then the lesser WS, especially with a priest, and i cant really complain about the points. Any good advise for running them? Orphus
Running them with an attached WP is a very popular way of running them. I don't have any but I know how I would use them: X10 Skyclaws /PF/MotW/PP (not all on the one model) with a Wolf Priest/ PP/jump pack (obviously). Use to soften up squad or finish up an already softened one. if it's not an issue what saga you give the WP I recommend Warrior Born as the extra attacks are great. That's about all the advice I can give in my sleep deprived state atm. Goreclaw
Meltagun would also help against vehicles. So PF, MotW and melta. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225801-skyclaws-any-advice/#findComment-2702907 Share on other sites
littlbitz
The Pack Orphus describes sounds pretty good (though I prefer bikes), the only thing I don't really agree with is the Saga. Warrior born is too expensive a Saga to use on a Wolf Priest, he just doesn't have enough initial attacks to get the momentum to build up enough bonuses to make it worth while. In my opinion that Saga is "Wolf Lord only" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225801-skyclaws-any-advice/#findComment-2702911 Share on other sites
Grimfoe
I was kicking around the idea of using that saga on a WGBL with the mark of the Wulfen. Might be really cool to give him a jumpack and have him with your SC pack as well. He would be pretty pricy coming in just under 150 points, but he could do some real damage. Especially if you used him in the same squad as a priest. I kind of like the idea of using this particular WGBL with a wolf totem, but the added mobility could make him very effective in this manner as well. Emperors Immortals
Thanks for the fast replies guys  I was thinking that a wolf tail talisman could be useful for either character joining a unit, also wondering if anyone here takes a combi weapon - the extra flamer or melta woudl be a big help im assumin. Also i noticed you cant add WG to swiftclaw jump pack, only bike pack (unless im reading it wrong) but that a 5 man WG pack with JP and assorted special weapons woudl run to only about 250 pts and provide a valuable counter assault or support unit, with either storm bolters or combi weapons making them pretty good value. Does anyone run WG in this way?Adding a priest would be even better just looking at the paperhammer, but a rune priest could be put in a graet position for the Wolf Spirits or dreaded Jaws powers - just not sure if the extra mobility os really needed though considering he could sit in a rhino/razor. So, what do you guys think about those ideas? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225801-skyclaws-any-advice/#findComment-2703040 Share on other sites
Niiai
It depends a bit on your army. I think sky claws are better in a rhino list that in a Droppod/razorback/hybrid list because in the rhino list you move in one big pack and you can easaly give the sky claws cover. The fact that you do not have to go outside to fier your weaponds (use the hatch) means that they can jump over the rhinos and counterassualt/assault units you want assaulted. I am not a fan of blood claws, but they do charge impresivly. I think skyclaws are just good blood claws.
