Croaxleigh Posted March 28, 2011 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Now that the problem of UI editing/adding new races has been cracked by elite modders, it's time to get an "interesting" mod going. There are enough rebalance mods and palette-swap Marines out there, so it's time for something different. ;) "The Quest for Knowledge" is an Adeptus Mechanicus mod, adding the AdMech to the game as a new race. The big thing is that I need units to flesh out this race with, so I figured I'd turn to the experts and see what they thought. Here's what I have thus far, in no particular order: Commanders: Magos Explorator (Offense) Artisan (Defense) Electro Priest (Support) Secondary Commanders: Techpriest Enginseer Techmarine Units: Skitarii Combat Servitors (close combat) Gun Servitors (ranged combat) Imperial Robots Steel Confessors Space Marines (call-in squad) Praetorian Combat Servitors (heavy weapons combat) Vehicles: Specific vehicle variants to be determined Global Abilities: Specific abilities to be determined Super Unit: Knight Paladin Titan Anyone have any suggestions for vehicles or global abilities that could be implemented, feedback on unit choices (don't hate on my robots ;) ), suggestions for alternative units/tier placement for specific units/glaring omissions in my unit list? Grand Admiral Thrawn Posted March 28, 2011 Share Posted March 28, 2011 I'd keep Space Marines out since there is an entire race for that. :) You could add instead some Secutor, which are Techpriests wholly devoted to war. Love that the robots and Knight are there. Croaxleigh Posted March 29, 2011 Author Share Posted March 29, 2011 I have put some thought into cutting the Techmarine in favor of another AdMech personality (possibly a Cyber-Seer from Dark Heresy, who was on my short list when I considered doing a 4th commander for the race since modders can implement that now as well... much to the joy of those who work on Chaos mods B) ), but I kind of want to keep the Steel Confessors. Both because of their backstory with the AdMech, and because when I was modding DoW I always enjoyed having slight overlaps in my Imperial armies to show the at least tentative connections (though I tried to at least have some reasoning behind the overlaps, as opposed to "here, have some Gray Knights in the middle of your army.")
