AGPO
Hi all, I was wondering if you guys could help me with details of a few characters, namely Chapter Master Sentikan, Captain Rydae and Brother-Librarian Ashok of the Angels Sanguine. These guys are the only three named characters from the chapter to appear in the fluff, and featured in the novels by James Swallow (Sentikan and Rydae) and C.S. Goto. (Ashok) I'm not especially keen to buy the books just to find there's only one passing reference to each of these guys. Can anyone who's read them enlighten me on these guys traits and appearence, or maybe provide some quotes? Any help would be massively appreciated, not least because I'm just starting work on my converted Chapter staff. Also, any further info on Castellean Zargo of the Angels Encarmine (other than what's in the codex) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, AGPO. The Crimson Cartel
AGPO Cant speak for Ashok, as I haven't read those books, but if I remember correctly, he wears a cloth hood as opposed to going helmeted. The other two are pretty glazed over in the book, (I have a character named Rydae in my army, liked him too :) ) Both helmeted, lots of bling respectively. Sorry I can't be more helpful... -CC
AGPO
Hmm, strange that Ashok wears a hood outside of the fortress-monestary. That could be an interesting modelling challenge though. Maybe I'll do a foot Libby leading a unit of Sternguard/Deathwatch when I've got the spare time. I'm kinda curious as to which would make the better stand in for Sentikan - Dante or Astorath. Losfer Werds
Ashok is a very powerful Librarian, in fact his psychic "aura" is described as so in CS Goto's Warrior Coven: "The Marine that strode up the causeway was ablaze with psychic energy. It just poured out of him, as though it ran through his veins and eased out of the pores in his skin. It was the only one of the aliens that did not hide its face behind the armoured pannels of a helmet. Instead, a heavy hood shaded the features of its face, and a long cloak plumed out behind it as it walked. For a moment, Dhrykna wondered how the rest of the mon-keigh could live knowing that superior specimens like this existed in their midst. The blind fools could not even see the brilliance in its soul. Its light was invisible to them. The last Marine was cer-tainly no eldar, but it emanated a rare power that even the eldar would have to acknowledge, although it flickered with a barely contained radiance." Brother Yorei
if you read the books you know all there is about them, unfortunately.
AGPO
@Losfer Werds: Thanks for that. If he's *that* powerful he may well be a candidate for my Mephiston stand in. Does the book give any more details of his appearence? @Yorei: Unfortunately I don't have the books. I'm working my way through the Heresy series at the moment so I really don't want to shell out for these series right now unless there's a lot of details on the Angels Sanguine included. That's why I was hoping to pick the brains of members here instead! :)
BLACK BLΠFLY
I believe Ashok appeared in a Deathwatch novel. He was definitely one bad dude for sure. G :)
Losfer Werds
As descriptions go the ones for Ashok are pretty slim. It IS mentioned that he maintains Deathwatch colors even when he was back with his chapter in the beginning of the second book. He abstains from wearing a helmet like the rest of the Angels Sanguine, instead he wears a hooded cloak called the Shroud of Lemartes.
Midnightmare
Check out pict number 7 here for a cool idea on the hood:- Tzen's Word Bearers!
AGPO
Hmm, I like the look but I don't think it's what I'd gofor. Those guys look like they don't have faces, Ashok just keeps his hidden. I'm thinking some sort of mask under an extended hood?

I was going to go with a force sword and bolt pistol, but if he has a specific favourite weapon I'll try to include it.

Ok cool, having not read the books I wouldn't know. Face could always be hidden 'psychic-ly' (sp?) under the hood and you could paint the black area white fading to blue. Or just use the good ol' Dark Angel head with the crusade helmet with the hood over it :D
OwlandMoonGuy
Here’s a link to C. S. Goto’s web site. He has posted there a story, “Blood of Angels” that appeared in Inferno! managzine about the Angels Sanguine. Though not what you’re looking for it’s an interesting read. A must for any AS enthusiast. http://www.csgoto.com/blood%20of%20angels.pdf Note that Goto’s writing isn’t consistent with the whole, “never remove their helmets” element found in the current fluff. So that’s why it’s not an issue for Ashok. I’ve not ready the Warrior Brood books but I understand that they are much more about the Death Watch than about the lead character who happened to be recruited from the AS. Enjoy, -OMG
BLACK BLΠFLY
I always loved that story a lot. I think it speaks for all Blood Angels in general. G
Losfer Werds
"Only Ashok had no helmet. Instead, his face was hidden below the folds of an ornate, heavy shroud. He stared fixedly into the polished floor of the Thunderhawk, never shifting his gaze nor showing any signs of breathing. Kalypsia was sure that she could see a faint red glow emanating from under the Marine's hood." - CS Goto - Warrior Brood Seems you could make sure to keep the upper part of his face completely covered, and have a red glow effect on the lower half of his face. After a little more reading I discovered that Ashok uses a power staff.
AGPO
Then a power staff he shall have! :) @Owlandmoonguy that story is Awesome with a capital A! I've got some really nice ideas for my own Angels Sanguine fluff now. I can't wait to start fleshing them out a tad, although I've read your background stuff and it was top notch as well. I can't wait to get started! I've got a whole realm of modelling ideas for now.
