Dremen
When I first got into the hobby, so many years ago it seems, this was the most appealing Special Character out there. He has to be one of the most sinister of the Loyalists. Dark, brooding, intense, and in the few stories he appears in, scarry as hell. I dont know about the rest of you but when I saw he wasnt in our codex I was slightly crushed. Now to my point. Does anyone else out there want a FAQ for a new Asmodai, possibly a new model for him, and generally a return of the Darkest of us? It never made sense to me that GW would take out a character that so intensly defines what the Dark Angels are. He is the embodyment of everything our hunt, our redemption, is about. In one form or another I own 4 of him. 3 converted one in its blister. To that end. If GW brought back Asmodai, what rules, aside from the litanies, would you like to see. From my standpoint, I'd like to see The Blades of Reason (huge fluff item in themselves) come back. Maybe an Aura of Fear or something similar that reduces enemy Ld in CC. When I used him he was a one man wrecking crew. would be nice to see him returned to his former glory. Gaz1858
I agree with you totally, an excellent character with great fluff. Hope he re appears in the next codex Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225925-asmodai/#findComment-2704818 Share on other sites
Kebabyuchenko
I would LOVE to have him back, Definitely a new model, and new models for Azrael, Ezekiel, Belial a new Sammael and a whole butt-ton more new models. Mentat
I like him and I like his model except that its positively shrimpy compared to the current space marines and other chaplains. I would have to figure out how to convert one (did that for Abaddon, who is apparently the Joe Pesci of 40k, compared to current terminators). The problem is his cool helmet, I don't know how I could do it. So I would love it if they did a new model along with new rules. Grand Master Neo
i would like to see the blades of reason show more prominence i actually converted the standard model by simply replacing the sword arm with a lightning claw Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225925-asmodai/#findComment-2705360 Share on other sites
n00b in need
When i first got into the hobby in about 2003ish Asmodai was the first model i ever bought cause he looked so damn cool! and now i can't even use him because no chaplain can have a Power Sword and his Corzius... =( i'd love to be able to use him again just for nostalgia and the extreme sentimental value he has for me. Cairbre
Asmodai is my favorite DA charecter. And it was first WH40K HQ I have ever bought right after my first 5 marines. I still use him as interrogator chaplain from time to time. I absolutely agree with you Dremen. I believe he will be back. sar mikael
Asmodia was and is ace! like you say the only problem is replicating the kick ass helmet. id like him to have the rules for litanies of hate - but count for every round of combat!!!! just imagine ...Asmodia leading a squad of lightning claw deathwing- reroll hit and reroll wound every turn! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha..................................hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahhaha! these thought should see me locked up in the rock. Brother Kovash
Asmodai is indeed an awesome character, too bad he's relegated to one story in our current codex. I picked up the old model myself, but to convert him to playable standards I replaced his right arm with a plasma pistol, and used one of the standards from the DA Veterans box on his power pack. I always pictured him as the chaplain from the cover of the codex, and if he had actual rules I would be jacked up to play him every game. asmodai650
Thanks guys, I didn't know I was held in such regard :D Seriously though, I do hope they bring him back. Great model with great fluff. Maybe in a few years he'll be back bringing heretics to justice. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225925-asmodai/#findComment-2707235 Share on other sites
The Unforgiven Angel
I think Asmodai will return. If he doesn't, I think we all have some complaining to do. Long live Asmodai!!! Brother Kovash
I think Asmodai will return. If he doesn't, I think we all have some complaining to do. Long live Asmodai!!! After seeing how many special characters recent chapters have received in their codices, I would hope that we do get Asmodai back. It's only fair. Interrogator Stobz
FYI, I believe you can use him as an Interrogator no worries(no codex at work to check, not sure about normal Chappies). One power weapon or two doesn't change the rules on the number of attacks he has, note he also has a pistol in a holster (DA remember what these are for) which counts a second CC weapon. I use him all (when playing Greenwing) the time. Don't let the awesome model gather dust.. Mazfrael
I would LOVE to have him back, Definitely a new model, and new models for Azrael, Ezekiel, Belial a new Sammael and a whole butt-ton more new models. Kebabyuchenko xxx In of themselves Azrael, Ezekiel, Sammael (but not so much), Asmodai (When we could still use him) and the company master models  are STILL some of the best looking characters out there in my opinion, understated but excellent. (Though I might just be a biased Dark Angels fan!) Maybe in the next codex they can give us a proper Belial model instead of making us do conversions :whoops: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225925-asmodai/#findComment-2712972 Share on other sites
HiveFleetEzekial
Hell, the model was so cool when I first started out, I've ended up buying 3-4 in total for various uses. One converted for a baddass lookin Assault Chappie for my initial White Panthers. One for the small run of Legoin of the DAmned I did. Another for DA (core). And another more recently for my Disciples of Caliban. Possibly one of the best lookin figures GW ever made, imo. If not the best. :whoops: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225925-asmodai/#findComment-2712987 Share on other sites
Dremen
Least I'm not the only one to have a half dozen Copies of the guy. Re-doing a Ravenwing Biker Chaplain with Asmodais Upper Torso atm. Can't wait to get to painting him. I can ALMOST understand GW looking at him and saying "Hes just a reall CC focused Chaplain" but to the Unforgiven hes an ICON. I still cant fathom how he was left out... maybe hes just got a batch of VERY unlucky Fallen to... minister to. SO he hasnt had time to leave the rock. I know they are traitors and must repent thier sins, yet I cant help but feel sorry for anyone who falls Under Asmodais blades. To surmise this all GW BRING ASMODAI BACK - signed The Unforgiven... all of us. shabbadoo
i would like to see the blades of reason show more prominence. It's a little multi-bladed neural knife used to torture prisoners, not a battlefield weapon. As such, in 3E it had an after game effect, but I don't think that it is a deal breaker if it doesn't feature as part of an Interrogator-Chaplain's kit in the next C: DA. It could be changed to be a small neural knife though, with battlefield use. The Eversor's neural gauntlet now just counts as a lightning claw, meaning that if the blades of reason were the same, it would rob the Chaplin of an attack, but would allow him to re-roll to wound. He already has a power weapon in the form a crozius, so there is not much benefit there. Making a neural knife better than a Eversor neural gauntlet would be a bad idea in my opinion, as it would marginalize what is supposed to be one of the deadliest fighters in the Imperial arsenal(the Eversor that is). Taking the above into account, making the blades or reason more prominent doesn't seem to work out very well. Asmodai is cool and all, and I don't think we need worry about getting him back, as he will likely be the least of what is added into the codex. C: DA 4E is rather minimalist/boring in comparison to the other 5E marine codexes, so C: DA 5E can only get better/more interesting than what we have now. Grotsmasha
Hail fellow Dark Angels, totally agree on the Asmodai (and the rest of the DA characters) needing an update miniature wise. In the meantime I've started on some myself To overcome needing to replicate the awesome helmet, I (sacrilige, I know) removed the original and added it to some "taller" DA plastics. Cheers, Jono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/225925-asmodai/#findComment-2724003 Share on other sites

Grand Master Belial
My only fear is that he has been interred in a sarcophagus to give us our Chappie Dread variant. That would NOT be cool.
