SW objective markers

So I had a thought about a great objective marker for SW, that resembles the real-life Sverd i fjell the commemorative monument located at the Hafrsfjord fjord, just outside the city of Stavanger in Norway. By using the idea of... "The War of the Giants" recounting of the duel between Leman Russ and his brother-primarch Magnus the Red at the height of the battle for Prospero.

Bits to use, or I would use: GW 60mm circle base, plastic Dreadknight Sword, and Dreadknight Thunder Hammer. (Although, I'd prefer finding a giant plastic axe, in place for the thunder hammer. All that's needed is something to represent Magnus's weapon) any thoughts? I'm still working on my funeral pyre, not to mention I still have that plastic mammoth skeleton to work with.

Any ideas on other SW objective markers? something ORIGINAL would be nice, instead of the.. barrel of ale, would be nice for a change haha.

I got a couple of AoBR Dreads off of eBay. I was going to "battle dammage" them up to be used as KIA Dreads or to replace a "Bjorn" model on the table top. I also have a bunc of "bits of kit" that I could hodge-podge to replicate a cache or stash of OBEL supplies or an actual deep insertion supply drop. Stuff like" bricks, sandbags, ammo crates, 55 gallon drums, 5 gallon fuel cans, misc. tools and shovels and so on. Those can easily be placed on a suitable sized base and can play into the mission scenario as well. VOX Caster bits along with one of the small radar dishes could be set up tobe a COMMSrelay or Sensor array if you use a larger radar dish. Again, these can easily lay into mission objectives. Especially is one is playing with a consistant group, one can play a campaign and securing certain objectives over the course of several games could lead to bonuses. Perhaps if you secure a sensor array, you could shrink the scatter roll by half on one or all of your Deep Strike or Reservesd deployments.

If you play a lot of city scapes, power generators and sentry guns could be objectives. Say, whomever gets to the generator and can hold it for a turn can activate the sentry guns. Or maybe, using Melta Bombs or other explosives, disabling the sentry guns so that your opponent cannot use them against you. The generator being worth Game/Campaign points and the sentry guns not so much. Then carry the result into the next game and so on.

Banner/flag poles added to a collection of bits could be one easy way of constructing a marker. I've gottn several of the VOX Caster and radar dish things (in pieces) from eBay. The fuel drums and cans I have had for vehicle projects as well as scal model props for other model projects. The variations are only limited by ones own creativity. If you play a lot of desert scapes, then the GW palm trees and such can dress up a marker pretty well. Oblisque, rune covered WayStones and such would work almost anywhere. Just "envision" what you might be seeking if you were on that battlefield. What would gain you an advantage be it tactical or strategic or morale.

Can't help thinking of the scene in THE 13TH WARRIOR with the leader dead in the chair. Maybe a skeletal SW version with stone wolves at his feet.

this couldnt help but remind me of the tombs beneath winterfel , where the lords of winter lie in eternal rest their direwolves lying by their feet and swords of iron on their lap.

also something http://geek-news.mtv.com/wp-content/upload...iron-throne.jpg

would be nice fitting and grim dark. thats a picture of the iron throne, a throne casted from the melted blades of the enemies of the king, a throne where no lesser man may sit himself less he be cut
